List two evidence-based instructional strategies that meet diverse learning needs. Examine these strategies for effectiveness related to differentiating instruction. Share the instructional strategies and a brief description of their effectiveness. One evidence based instructional strategy that I use in my kindergarten classroom is show and tell (modeling). The effectiveness of this strategy is relevant to my students as many times this is their first classroom experience. In doing this is best to show what my expectations are and how to complete assignments is to show/model how. This also gives a visual representation for learners that learn through visuals and gives opportunities for ELL students to visualize what is expected of them. Your lesson goals clarify what you want your students to know and be able to do by the end of the lesson. Now, you need to tell them what they need to know and show them how to do the things you want them to be able to do . You don’t’ want to spend your entire lesson have the kids and listening to you, so it is essential to focus your show and tell on things that matter most. To do this, have another look at your lesson goal. This strategy is also part of the “I do”, “we do”, “you do”. The next strategy is based off the first one listed which is check for understanding. Once you have told students what they need to know, you need to check their understanding before moving on. I do this by cold calling on students where it is random. I use this strategy by using thumbs up or thumbs down, use of white boards to answer while giving a countdown, for example write the number that comes after 7, and give the students 10 seconds to write and hold up answer.
