Resilience has a positive effect on outcomes of therapy (Ungar & Theron, 2020 ).
Effects of Shame on Autobiographical Memory Shame is a complex emotion that can have a significant impact on an individual's autobiographical memory (Kouri et al., 2023) shame can lead to memory distortions, including focusing on negative events and overlook positive ones. Based on different racial/ethnic backgrounds. African Americans may be more likely to suppress memories related to experiences of racism and discrimination due to the shame associated with these experiences (Cesare et al., 2018).

Therapists should display positive, supportive expressions.
