Subject: Reconstructing Dayton – Profile and Needs Assessment
Reconstructing Dayton is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization that works to support practical solutions to issues that affect the city of Dayton and Montgomery County. Reconstructing Dayton is of the belief that issues that affect Montgomery County affect Dayton, and vice-versa, so their solutions aim to promote close collaboration broadly across the entire region. As an organization, they are non-partisan, and seek to find solutions that individuals on both sides of the political aisle can find common ground to agree on. Reconstructing Dayton believes that political candidates that value the production of results over their party affiliation or political careerism are automatically someone that Reconstructing Dayton would like to support. Client Profile
In order to fulfill the needs of Reconstructing Dayton throughout this grant proposal project, it is important for me to understand their role within the community and how the project they are interested in me applying for funding for will benefit the community. Their dedication to informing the public, raising voter turnout, and improving the fairness
and efficiency of local elections is the main driver behind the projects and initiatives they
initiate and/or support.

Needs Assessment
After meeting with my contacts within the organization, Alex Sharp and Kathleen Caffrey, I was made aware of a couple of projects that Reconstructing Dayton was interested in obtaining funding for, and how these projects might have a positive impact on the city of Dayton and Montgomery County as a whole.
Funding Status and Goals
Reconstructing Dayton’s current priority is to improve the voter engagement, participation and education for the city and county, especially at the local Dayton level (mayoral and city commissioner elections).
