Government and Media Websites Jazsica Smoots University of Mississippi POL 367: Policy Analysis Online 1 Dr. Sue Ann Skipworth September 08, 2023 \
2 President Biden made promises he would tackle specific issues that affect Americans, and when he took office, he sought to address those critical issues that were important to him. There were many, but these three stand out most because it's discussed daily in the news. They are the economic, racial issues, and immigrants. Racial and social justice issues included criminal justice reform, voting rights protection, and efforts to combat systemic racism. Secondly, the issue on President Biden's agenda is Immigration, especially now with the migrant crisis. Biden's plan hopes to focus on creating a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and reforming the immigration system ( Fact Sheet ) . Lastly, the Infrastructure and Jobs Plan, also known as the America Jobs Plan focused on rebuilding and modernizing American infrastructure, including roads, bridges, public transportation, broadband, and clean energy projects ( FACT SHEET ). Not to be confused with the American Rescue Plan, which provides $130 billion to help schools safely reopen and expand paid sick and family and medical leave, among numerous other things ( American Rescue Plan ). I was born and raised in the State of Mississippi, and currently, the Governor is Tate Reeves, and he is running for re-election. His new agenda needs more information; however, his website focuses on critical initiatives, including Workforce Development, Healthcare, and Economic growth. Firstly, workforce development is mainly due to the Governor's innovative, conservative policies enacted to revolutionize Mississippi's workforce and keep our skilled workers here in Mississippi, where they can obtain higher pay ( Workforce Development ). Secondly, with his healthcare initiative, the Governor wants Mississippians' access to quality healthcare and improve public health through fair policies for all ( Healthcare ) . Lastly, the economic growth plan to champion a historic tax cut bolstered job growth and attracted new businesses across the state ( Economic Growth ).

Media sites offer commentary on a broad spectrum of topics, including politics, international affairs, economics, entertainment, sports, science, and culture. There can be overlap between government and media sites, especially when reporting on government actions, policies, and news related to public administration. Media organizations often use government sources, press releases, and official statements to create news content. NPR provides in-depth, balanced, and fact-based reporting with comprehensive coverage. At the same time, commercial media outlets like NBC and Fox News may have editorial biases or leanings that align with their target audience. While they also provide news coverage, their programming often includes opinion shows and commentary that can be more polarized and ideologically driven. NPR is a non-profit organization that relies on government funding, corporate sponsorships, and listener donations to minimize commercial pressures on its journalism ( Public Radio Finances : NPR ) . Retail media outlets like NBC and Fox News are advertisement-based revenue and, in some cases, subscription fees. They often face commercial pressures that can influence their programming and content decisions. Some significant issues that media and elected officials ignore are the Mental Health Crisis, Rural and Remote Area Development, and Income Inequality, to name a few. Mental health issues remain stigmatized, leading to inadequate coverage and policy responses. Lack of
