Personal Ethics Statement
Ethics and values are of high importance to me personally and professionally in my
everyday life. The basic concepts of knowing right from wrong integrated with the
core values of your belief system define the way one perceives ethics. Ethics means
following your core beliefs and values no matter the circumstances or the situation.
In assessing my own personal stance on the principles of ethics as a healthcare
administrator, I believe in the importance of fairness and being just without bias
across the workplace. I believe in enforcing ethical principles such as integrity,
respect for autonomy, beneficence, and justice in all aspect’s healthcare and as an
administrator. In promoting equal rights for all, I believe that being able to rely on a
code of ethics or standard of operations is imperative. For example, standards and
regulations established by the Joint Commission are a great place for administrators
to start when seeking to formalize ethics policies across a facility or system. I think
the biggest ethical takeaway is my understanding that society and business
operations play a large roll in ethics and values, in addition these concepts can be
vastly different between individuals resulting in ethical dilemmas (Morrison, 2020). I
also believe in promoting transparency, honesty, and open communication in
healthcare organizations
to foster trust between healthcare providers, staff,
patients, and their families. Furthermore, I believe in the equitable distribution of
healthcare resources, advocating for equal access to healthcare services for all
individuals regardless of their socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, or other factors.
