Learning objectives:

Demonstrate understanding of the theories reviewed in the course
and how they relate to anti-oppressive practice and the key principles
of self-determination, empowerment and allyship in a collaborative
case management framework.

Demonstrate how anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and anti-colonial
perspectives can be applied to social work values and practice
approaches.
Assignment overview:
The personal practice model has been described “as the art and science of
social work
,”
in essence,
“an explicit conceptual
scheme that expresses a
worke
r’s v
iew of
practice” (Mu
llen, 1983). Fook (2002) identifies the need to
maintain a
“broader vision of the mission of social work” to guide one’s
practice regardless of the practice environment.
As such, the intent of this assignment is to allow you to synthesize your
learning both in this program and from your lived experience into a coherent
practice framework that will anchor your future work in ethical, self-
reflective practice.

Criteria for Assignment:
Describe your model in either a video or a paper. Please see the two
options below.
IMPORTANT: Both options must include a minimum of 6 academic
references; 3 of these must be from the assigned class readings in this
course. Please review APA formatting and plagiarism before submission.
Option 1: Written 5-8 pages. (
This doesn’t inc
lude a cover page and
reference.) Please adhere to a maximum of eight pages and a minimum of
5 pages utilizing Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1-inch margins and
double space. Your paper will include an APA reference page. Clarity of
expression, grammar and spelling will be considered in grading the paper.
OR
Option 2: Video 12-15 minutes. No less than 12 and no more than 15
minutes. If you do a video, you must submit an APA reference page in a
Word format separately. Clarity of expression, comprehension and
preparation will be considered in grading for the video.
