Question
Would people act differently when they see a man being taken advantage of, rather than a
woman?
Hypothesis
In the scenario where a man takes advantage of a woman, a greater amount of people would
personally step in to stop it than when a woman takes advantage of a man. More individuals were
more likely to alert security when they witnessed a woman taking advantage of a male than to
confront the perpetrator. In bith cases, only a few people would ignore it.
Survey Questions
Please indicate your age and gender. In the following two situations, select the answer that best
describes what you would actually do if you saw someone in a bar, who is not in the right state of
mind, being taken advantage of.
1. A woman, who is not in the right state of mind, is being taken advantage of by a man.
a. Step in and assist the women
b. Alert security
c. Ignore it
2. A man, who is not in the right state of mind, being taken advantage of by a woman
a. Step in and help the man

Analysis and conclusions
The research results of a philosophical study about ethical responses to gender-based
discrimmination reveal a significant disparity of individuals who would assist women compared
to men. 92% of respondents said they would help a woman who was being taken advantage of by
a man, by reporting the incident to security (58%), or by approaching the offender directly
(35%). However, when presented with the opposite scenario, a sizable percentage of
respondents (40%) would disregard a gut being taken advantage of by a woman. Overall, slightly
more than 50% would assist the man by approaching the woman (22%) or by alering security
(38%). My prediction was that a greater number of people would step in and confront a male
who was abusing a woman than they would when a woman was abusing a man. Wheras more
individuals will alert security when they witness a woman taking advantage of a male than they
do to confront the perpetrator. In both cases, few people will overlook it. My hypothesis is
proved to be true by the data I gathered in this survey. I underestimated the amount of people
who would ignore a man being taken advantage by a woman. I mentioned that not many people
would ignore it in both circumstances, and the poll revealed that forty percent of paarticipants
would overlook a man in that scenario.
Based on my observations of the findings of this philosophical investigation, certain
strongly held beliefs on altruism were expressed by the survey respondents. In the case of the
male taking advantage of a woman, the vast majority of individuals would either confront the
situation or alert security, with alerting security being more popular. I believe it was more
common for the survey respondents to react this way because it is common in our society for
men to take advantage of women. However, according to studies, men become more violent after
the consumption of alcohol, making many women feel physically frightened when they have to
confront a man who may be intoxicated and angry. Therefore, instead of handling the situation
themselves, they would rather inform security. I believe that fewer women would help a man
that’s being taken advantage of by a woman because they are in doubt that what they are seeing
is accurate, merely because there are a few cases where men are taken advantage by a woman. In
our society today, women are continuously being looked down on and treated unfairly with
unequal pay and all-around discrimination against doing a man’s job. Women are strongly
encouraged to stand up for themselves and others in exposing men to sexual harassment.
However, for a woman to stand up for a man, and go against others of their gender, especially in
a time where social media influences women needing to stick together and stand up with one
another, is slim because of the influential circumstances. The results from this survey were
reasonably consistent with our social philosophy. Many people believe that helping others is
essential, with the acceptance of some people's beliefs and instincts in the situations provided.

Philosophers differ from one another in the ways that they reinterpret and distort religious
scriptures. Every ethical system makes quite similar claims at its heart. Have morality and

Human Cloning
Under what circumstances, if any, should human cloning be permitted?
Cloning humans should not be allowed in any circumstance. This risky treatment has
significant drawbacks and very little ethical benefits. Only a small number of human eggs have
been obtained by scientists in the last year to study and test human cloning. In the modern era,
the physical hazards associated with the experiment are unethical due to the lack of information
about it. There is only a 40% chance that an embryo inserted via surrogacy will implant itself in
the uterus. Just 10–20% of those who do will be brought to term. These possibilities do not
change an individual's genetic makeup. Success is considerably less likely after modification
than it is in a genetically unmodified embryo. Naturally occurring reproduction is also altered
by
human
cloning.
The
process
of
perfecting
human
cloning
may
need
hundreds
of
experimental efforts, and there will inevitably be numerous failures that could cause genetic
damage. Similarly, there's no assurance you'll receive back the same person if you clone a
deceased parent or other loved one. An environment has a big influence on personality, as John
Locke noted in his theory of personal identity. It would not be guaranteed that a loved one or
relative would be produced if someone with their exact DNA was cloned. Moreover, what
would scientists do about the unsuccessful trials that produced results but caused genetic harm?
Did that outcome have a soul? If so, would it be against the law to kill them? Human cloning
carries too many physical hazards to be accepted, and the question of whether the resulting
entity should be regarded as a person would spark strong feelings among some religious and
ethnic groups, making it inappropriate and unethical to allow it.

debate. A close examination of today's high schools' internal operations reveals a great deal
about the negative consequences associated with cell phone use. The chance to send a Snapchat

when they are not mindlessly surfing the web. Assistance is required in this case to ensure that
they receive a proper education and acquire the lifelong interactive skills they will need. Teens
have a lot of reasons for keeping their phones in their pockets in class. There are also some
justifications for increased productivity or safety. A small number of schools do, however,
permit students to have phones for security reasons—a practice that began after the 1999 school
shooting in Colorado. The justification for carrying the devices, meanwhile, has grown stale and
might be meaningless in a scenario when thirty children alert the authorities to a gunman within
the

laptops and cell phones are other technical trends that many families are adopting. As a result,
teachers need to create a system that will enable students to use technology effectively and
productively, enhancing their education. Online paper submission, syllabus access, and even
online discussion boards are a few examples of how to use technology in the classroom
responsibly. Every school has a code of conduct, which needs to be updated to permit
appropriate technology use. To address the primary cause of ineffective technology-based
teaching, student discipline is required. Therefore, when used and disciplined appropriately,
technology can be useful in the classroom.
Criminal Organ Donation
People constantly pass away from lack of viable organs all around the world. An organ
transplant is the best remedy to this issue, whenever it is feasible. Organ availability is limited,
though, particularly for uncommon blood types like AB-positive, AB-negative, and B-negative,
which together account for less than 3% of the US population. Governments ought to set up
systems that allow criminals with convictions, particularly those awaiting execution, to donate
organs. From an ethical standpoint, it seems that this violates a person's right to privacy and
their desire to die. Some argue that this is just a drawn-out continuation of the harsh penalty.
Still, it's not. That begs the question, Why should a state execute a person without allowing
someone in need to live? The judge's sentence for a criminal is not under the authority of the
correctional facilities, and if the offender is facing death row and is about to die, the government
should not squander potential organs that could save someone's life. A country should give
equal attention to the health of its people and seize opportunities to assist those in need, such as
those posed by death row inmates. Liver and kidney transplants are in high demand, particularly
in the United States, and the waiting list for UNOS transplants can be very lengthy in many
situations. Depending on the blood type, receiving a replacement kidney may take five to ten
years. There have been seventy death row executions of offenders in the last three years. That's
a minimum of 100 functioning kidneys. Donating the organs of death row inmates can
effectively supply many citizens with the life-sustaining organs they require. However, before
beginning any medical operations, getting the donor's and the recipient's consent should come
first. Nonetheless, there can be circumstances in which the recipient or the patient declines. The
desires of each person should be respected if they are declined. For the patient in need of a new
organ, it can be quite advantageous if both parties agree. For the benefit of everyone, countries
should therefore legalize and establish procedures for death row inmates to donate their organs.
How is gender inequality still prevalent in today’s society?
Gender inequality is a widespread issue all over the world, that is still prevalent to this day.
Gender inequality is the leading cause of women's suffering to be recognized as equal and valued
beings in their workplace, in their relationships, and in our society. Cultures place more value on
the work done by a man, which ultimately devalues the work of a woman. It is accustomed in
our society today, to praise a father involved with his children, or simply being a father, and
perceive him as a “hero”, “hardworking” and a “dedicated parent” for providing the same level
of care a mother would. This alone devalues the work, time and effort put in by women and
single mothers everywhere. For families to prosper, gender equality is essential, and despite
decades of effort, gender inequality persists to a significant level. Without gender equality,
women who are single mothers may continue to make less money than single fathers while doing
the same work, which would make them less able to provide for their kids. When men make a
significantly higher income in comparison to women, it demonstrates that women are seen as
“inferior”. This greatly affects single mothers because they are left with no choice but to live in
poverty with their children without the means necessary to be able to provide for their families.
Due to this, gender equality and abuse towards women will be a constant cycle until we, as a
society, acknowledge that we are part of the problem, and deem this as intolerable and
unacceptable. It’s necessary to protect our women and children from poverty, abuse, violence,
and unequal rights. As the famous anthropologist Margaret Mead once said “Never doubt that a
small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.”
If someone offends you over Facebook, what is the ethical way to respond?
The ethical course of action to take when someone offends you on Facebook is to first, evaluate
the circumstances. Social media posts and comments are widely viewed, so responding in a
passive-aggressive manner to a potential misunderstanding might be awkward. An ethical
response can be aided by taking the source's reliability into account. Public platforms pose a risk
because providing the incorrect response has the potential to worsen the issue and enhance
online participation, which may lead to others believing you have compromised to the level of
the offender. Take into account someone's credibility, for instance, if they label you overweight
or stupid. Consider the following: Is this person a dietitian or a doctor? Or does this person
possess the necessary knowledge to determine if I am overweight or not? Or has this person
discussed the topic with me in a reasonable manner and is aware of my preferred method of
learning? The majority of the time, no is the response to those questions. Asking those questions
should make it easy to ignore statements made by someone who lacks evidence to support their

claims. If you can't stand to ignore the comment, you may be able to resolve it more
successfully by delaying and strategizing your reaction. Instead of being defensive, try to ask
questions about the situation. Resolving the issue silently and effectively can be achieved by
getting in touch with the criticizer via phone or in person, offering an apology, and asking about
their reasoning for the attack. It can help to be kind and courteous in your correspondence.
Killing the offender with kindness has the power to make them feel stupid and sorry for what
they said. Being kind to them may result in an apology from them, but it may also serve as a
warning for the next time they feel compelled to say anything hurtful. The most moral course of
action is to try to find out more about the writer's motivations and feelings behind their words or
actions. This way, the issue can be rectified behind closed doors.
Survey Response Evaluation
According to the rationales you developed for their responses, which (if any) of their
decisions would be in line with your core principles?
A close inspection of the information obtained from the survey reveals multiple issues. The
response from those who differed in their fundamental beliefs is significant. I support equality
and putting other people's needs ahead of my own. To ensure positive things for one's future, the
"Buddha emphasizes compassion and good moral behaviour" (Lesson 12), which is something I
also believe in. Most people would have gone to somebody of authority, such as a security
officer or bartender, instead of taking matters into their own hands if they had seen someone
being taken advantage of. These two choices are reasonably consistent with my guiding beliefs.
They are only partially aligned since, by my beliefs and values, I would have initially acted
regardless of the victim's gender or my personal safety concerns. What I consider to be the most

moral decision is also influenced by the philosophy of John Stuart Mill. His views are
consistent with the karma theory taught by the Buddha. "Actions are right in proportion to their
tendency to promote happiness and wrong in proportion to their tendency to produce the
opposite of happiness," according to the creed that recognizes utility, also known as the greatest
happiness principle, as the cornerstone of morality. He hinks that doing good deeds will result
in good karma. Having stated that my basic values rank higher than others on the moral or
ethical.
For the responses that were not in line with your core principles, what factor
overruled the core principle(s) in question, and why?
The people who would have talked to an authority figure made an ethical decision to help,
however, they could have taken on the responsibility to intervene too. Only the people who
would intervene themselves are being genuinely ethical and are significantly in line with my
core principles. Furthermore, one of my core principles is also equality and a fraction of the
responses were not in line with that principle either. The fact that only 7% of people would
ignore a woman being taken advantage of by a man, whereas 40% would ignore a man being
taken advantage of by a woman shows significance in people’s views on inequality. I have
strong beliefs that men and women should be treated equally regardless of the situation at hand,
and evidently, many people do not share that principle with me. I firmly believe that regardless
of the circumstances, men and women should be treated equally. Apparently, not everyone
shares this belief.

If you knew you had access to your teacher's final exams prior to the exam date, would
you take them?
If I was given access, I would probably utilize the final exam answers, but only under the
circumstance of it being my last resort. If were to just use those answers and learn nothing from
it, it would be a waste. But if it was under the circumstance of it being the final decision
between me passing or failing, I would take up the opportunity. At the end of the day, it
wouldn’t be considered unethical as long as I’ve learned something from that course. Because
speaking in ethical terms, it’s unfair to have someone's entire future based on one final exam. It
should be their overall progress throughout the course, and what they've learned. However, if I
had cheated on every assignment or exam during the course, then it would be unethical.
Secondly, I would eventually fail. Although one would cheat throughout the whole course
would help him in the short term, one would emerge from that course or degree having learned
nothing, and potentially endangering someone's life after having pursued that profession,
meaning in the end you failed. So really, it depends, If that was my only ticket to getting to
university or finishing my course or degree.
