Dear ________,
I was excited to receive your letter recently and am honored that you would reach out and ask
me such an important and relevant question (What is a worldview, and how does it impact my
life?). As you stated in your letter, this is a subject that I have studied, and I am happy to share
with you what I have learned. To begin, I will try to define the term adequately (Paragraph 1)
and then describe how a worldview impacts our lives (Paragraph 2).
To begin, you need to understand that everyone has a worldview whether they realize it
or not. A worldview defines the way we live and the way we respond to the things in our life.
For example, in
A Christian Worldview,
the author explains that “even ordinary interactions
reflect our commitments and convictions about the basic issues of art and science, work and
play, family and society, life and death” (pg. 18). Every decision we make throughout the day is a
reflection of our worldview.
A worldview can greatly affect our lives daily. When someone hurts you, how do you
respond? Do you turn the other cheek or seek revenge? When life gives you troubling
circumstances, is your first response to pray or mentally shut down?
Even something as simple
as interacting with your family and coworkers can show others your worldview. Every day, our
worldview defines the way we interact with the world.
