What do you think about this issue/ What are Abbott’s ideas about vouchers and school choice good ones? Why or why not? Coming from someone who attended private school when I was in elementary. I discussed the benefits and risks of attending private school with my mother. She explained how after she moved me to public school, I was taught the same type of education. I do believe that vouchers are not a great choice at all. I believe that you have the choice to attend private school or public school. Therefore, it should be up to you if you want to pay from out of your pocket, regardless of your income, that is on you as a parent to decide for your child. The vouchers would not being beneficial for all. I believe that Abbott’s ideas are flat out dumb and ignorant. He doesn’t think about how it would benefit everyone in Texas. He just thinks about how it benefits the rich republicans of Texas. Therefore, because the middle to poor class families would no longer have free education and would have to pay for something that is already offered to them for free. In addition, the vouchers that the video mentioned would be 10,000 a year. Instead, why don’t we have Texas focus on helping the college students who are already in debt pay off their tuition. I believe there is more important topics of issues that the money from taxpayers can go towards. It is not fair for taxpayers of Texas to pay for private schools, where their income is not offered to them like others may be. What might you suggest improving the state of K-12 education in Texas public schools? I think in order to improve K-12 education in Texas, Texas law makers should be realistic for once. They need to pay public-school teachers more based on the type academic learning that they teach. This will improve the performance of teachers having more time and knowledge to educate their teachers. Another thing to improve is letting Texas parents send their children wherever they desire and not have it based off where they live or their income. This will improve children’s performances and it will lead to being successful. Lastly, they should also allow to teach teachers whatever they feel is necessary to be educated on for the real world outside of Texas. For example, in high school they don’t tech you how to build your credit, manage your expenses or even how to exactly make money properly. These are real world topics that need to be taught in order to live wealthy. Imagine if Texas incorporated these types of classes in high schoolers everyday lives. This would improve the level of education of Texans, this would lead to young adults succeeding.
