Response:
In Moroni 3 it talks about how the priests and teachers were being ordained by the elder by the laying on of hands. I
love reading about people being ordained or their stories about being set apart, it is such a special moment, and the
blessings we receive to fulfill our callings and guidance throughout this life are so precious. There is a verse in D&C
121:16-25 that stuck out to me. People suffer from debilitating addictions like pornography, alcohol, drugs, and many
other things, but they can receive help, and an something that can be helpful are priesthood blessings, they aren’t
always an immediate solvent, but they help the process along by showing comfort, love, and support. And you just
know that those who hold the priesthood strive to be worthy, especially our leaders. They are called and “entitled to
the power needed to serve and fulfill the responsibilities of their callings.” Every bishop that I have had was not
perfect, but they were the perfect bishop for me. I have never felt more love, encouragement, acceptance, and care
from anyone other than my own father, family members, and my beloved father in heaven. They are indeed called to
serve and to help, and are blessed in their efforts.

4. Synthesis:
Personal
Relevance and
Application to
the Real World
There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences
of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous
power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and
concern for them again.
Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that
week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you
have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own:
abortion
abuse/bullying
addiction
depression
divorce
domestic violence
energy/environmental issues
violence
gambling
genocide
homosexuality
international terrorism
materialism
natural disasters
pornography
unemployment
poverty
racial strife/hatred
religious intolerance/persecution
threats to religious liberty
same-sex marriage
suicide
Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about
the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental
truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think
these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging
with the truths you know.
Write a response in at least 300-450 words
and list your word count at the end of your
response.
5.
The world problem/issue I chose this week is:
Health Issues
Response:
I have had my fair share of health issues that I have had to deal with. It can be the literal worst to try to deal with. I
have had multiple times in my life where I have felt so down and hopeless about the predicament I am in. One
particular event was when I was working FSY. It was my second contracted week in Kentucky and I was starting to get
sick, I knew something was going around so I didn’t think much of it. The previous week was the hardest that I had
ever had as an FSY counselor. I was exhausted and my body was giving up on me, I was having trouble even getting
out of bed in the morning. Here’s the kicker, I had a prompting that Sunday to get a blessing for the upcoming week,
but I didn’t follow it. By Thursday I was sick and exhausted I had cried while almost collapsing getting ready that
morning. I asked my Assistant Coordinator for a blessing. She got 2 of the priesthood holders there to come to where
I was to give me a blessing. In this blessing, it was mentioned, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” I
immediately felt comfort and peace surround me. Now this wasn’t an immediate fix to my health issues that I was
struggling with, but it opened my eyes to His hand that had been a constant presence in my life that week. Every time
I saw my youth, I was filled with just enough energy to have a great time around them, and to help provide them with
an experience to feel the spirit. Priesthood blessings are an amazing tool that we have to feel Heavenly Father’s love
and support, even if we are not immediately healed, it still soothes an ache and provides a balm for the burns we
receive from the world daily, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
