Running head: CAREER GOALS AND PLANS 1 Career Goals and Plans for Succeeding in the University of Bridgeport School of Nursing Students Name Institutional Affiliation Course Date
CAREER GOALS AND PLANS 2 Career Goals and Plans for Succeeding in the University of Bridgeport School of Nursing The BSN program aims to prepare graduates in nursing for entry-level practice in a range of healthcare settings, to lay the groundwork for graduate study and lifelong learning, and to improve patient outcomes. Both short-term and long-term goals are essential to achieving my career plans and goals. I can work toward long-term goals with the help of short-term objectives, which helps me stay motivated to do so. When I am pursuing a degree in nursing or working as a nurse practitioner, these ambitions may also present an opportunity for me to enhance my current circumstance. I have chosen the public health specialty as one of my nursing career objectives. I am passionate about this specialty, aim to show that I have a natural aptitude for it, and have started the necessary training to become an expert in it. I think that my increased level of specialized knowledge will assist others enter the nursing program. The BSN fulfills my demands of assisting others in entering nursing school because it is one of the charitable models for nursing career aspirations. Since the School of Nursing accepts between 80 and 90 BSN students each Fall semester, it could be difficult to get accepted. These students include a mix of incoming freshmen, UB pre-nursing program participants, transfer candidates, and current UB students switching to nursing as their major. As stated in the school’s application, all applicants to the BSN program are eligible, but the UB School of Nursing will only consider those who have submitted their applications by the deadline for admission after February 1st. I will therefore assist candidates in determining their own eligibility for admission to the BSN program utilizing the materials in this guide, particularly the Supplemental Application. Additionally, encourage individuals to submit applications while prerequisite coursework is still being taken, provided that the order in which it is being taken will allow for the fulfillment of all requirements prior to the start of the BSN program.
CAREER GOALS AND PLANS 3 Additionally, I have thought about my nursing abilities, and it is important to realize that nursing is more than simply a collection of skills; it is a way of life. Indeed, nursing is a profession. As a result, I ought to work hard to develop my professional skills and demonstrate particular character traits at work. My personal qualities of kindness and compassion, empathy, and patience will improve the latter. Therefore, I anticipate that my time at BSN will involve more than just professional development for myself and the people I assisted in enrolling in the program. Build even more on the lasting friends and memories of assisting others that I will continue to be able to treasure. Since I provided them a purpose to have a better life, I think it will feel like I accomplished something. Additionally, it entails offering individuals hope and assisting in their physical, emotional, and mental recovery in order to return them to their families. Overall, I should be pleased with myself for deciding to pursue a career as a certified nurse (RN). I may have a difficult path ahead of me, but when I receive my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, it will all have been worthwhile. Every objective and strategy I use in my work is a personal success. I will need to make improvements in several areas and conquer some obstacles. I am prepared to get to work and realize that clinical care is more complicated than it first appears. Even the most knowledgeable professionals in clinical care need to take the time to recognize their areas of weakness, increase their knowledge, and be successful in practice. This means that much work needs to be done and that learning should never cease.
