2 Evolution of the Hospital Industry: A Comparative Analysis In this comparative examination, we will look at how hospitals have changed and developed from the 1800s to the 2000s. The alterations have taken place in hospital settings and procedures over time will be assessed in this study. Both the price of hospital care and the way patients receive treatments have changed significantly. Hospital Care Evolution In the 1800s, infectious infections and mental health conditions were the two main conditions that hospitals would treat. Medical services were not offered, and surgeries were not performed safely. In the 1930s, hospitals were enormous businesses that employed hundreds of people. At this stage, hospitals would provide treatment for certain medical disorders. Hospitals in the 2000s offered inpatient and outpatient care, illness management, and therapies. Today’s hospitals provide complete treatment for all medical conditions. Hospital Environment Over the last three centuries, hospitals have changed. Hospitals were large rooms where all patients received care on the 1800s; there were no private rooms or treatment sections. The perception was that people died in hospitals. Hospitals were a small but significant industry by the 1960s. there were beds available with private spaces for medical care and disease containment. Patients visited hospitals more frequently because of receiving treatments like meals, x-rays, and laboratory services. To better accommodate patient care and decrease deaths or improper treatments, hospitals were reorganized in the 2000s. to improve airflow and productivity in hospitals, disease transmission was stopped. To improve patient care, private rooms were created for each sector. Today’s hospitals offer therapy, inpatient services, outpatient services, and treatments in addition to surgery.
3 Staff Education The public opposed improvements in education or the establishment of medical standard during the 1800s when medical education was either nonexistent or extremely limited. In 1960s saw the introduction of medical professional education. Education was provided for medical professionals. The implementation of nursing education and knowledge of disease containment. To practice medicine, all medical practitioners had to complete intensive educational programs by the year 2000. Level of Care In the 1800s, there was little care given, and it was typically solely done at the patients’ houses. However, there was little knowledge of disease containment, therefore doctors treated patients with homemade cures or by consulting local healers. By the 1960s, medical care had significantly changed. Hospitals at this time offered treatments and care for diseases and disorders. The ability of care in the 2000s to treat and prevent diseases was complete. Paying for Your Care In the 1800s, hospitals were mostly supported by the wealthy and provided free care to people. Doctors provided free care to people. Doctors mostly provided care in patient’s home; however, these services were exceedingly expensive and only available to the wealthy. The 1960s saw the introduction of Medicaid, Medicare, and health insurance. Patients could afford the cheap costs of hospital care. In the 2000s, the cost of health care rose dramatically, making it impossible for anyone without health insurance to afford it. Comparative Analysis Hospital care was different in the 1800s than it is now. Hospitals during this time served solely to control the spread of disease and house people who were mentally ill. 4 treating patients in a hospital setting, doctors would treat patients at home with natural remedies or by hiring healers. With no outside help, the impoverished would self-medicate at home. In the 1800s hospitals were thought of as places where people went to pass away. Health and Hospital treatment underwent shift in the 1960s. training and education were given to the medical staff. Hospitals are where people learn about and put into practice methods for containing germs and preventing the spread of diseases. Health and hospital care were very sophisticated in the 2000s and could offer both inpatient and outpatient services. To accommodate the quantity of patients, hospitals were being built exceedingly large, yet they lacked proper flow. To increase ventilation, patient and staff comfort, noise reduction, and the spread of viruses, hospitals started to undergo structural changes. Healthcare professionals discovered that patients responded to therapy more favorably depending on the hospital’s atmosphere and surroundings. Modern hospitals are better equipped to give patients all the comforts of home while offering medical care, procedures, therapies, inpatient services, and outpatient services. Patients seek for care at hospitals because they are confident, they will get quality treatment there. Conclusion From the 1800s to the present, hospitals, and the care they offer have undergone substantial development. Healthcare was exceedingly expensive and primarily available to the wealthy in the early 1800s, and hospitals were considered as places where people went to die. Medical professionals were able to comprehend how to limit germs and diseases with time and education. Both the price of healthcare and the range of treatments offered have grown throughout time. Patients seek hospital care when they are feeling unwell because they know they will receive accurate care because the facility offers a secure and comfortable setting.
