Students are expected to address the initial discussion question by Wednesday of each week. Participation in the discussion forum requires a minimum of three (3) substantive postings (this includes your initial post and posting to two peers) on three (3) different days. Substantive means that you add something new to the discussion. This is also a time to ask questions or offer information surrounding the topic addressed by your peers. Personal experience is appropriate for a substantive discussion, however, should be correlated to the literature. All discussion boards will be evaluated utilizing rubric criteria inclusive of content, analysis, collaboration, and writing. If you fail to post an initial discussion or the initial discussion is late, you will not receive points for content and analysis, you may however post to your peers for partial credit following the guidelines above. Initial Response Instructions: Please complete the following steps for your discussion post and response. As a way of introducing yourselves to the instructor and your peers, please post the following: Your name and a description of your current job. (If not currently employed, what are your employment expectations when you complete your program?) What degree are you pursuing? How do you see yourself applying knowledge from this course? Post a photo of yourself (self-portrait, family or other picture that includes you). If not a self-portrait describe where you are in the picture. Then, You are going to meet with your proctor to demonstrate your skills that you are learning, using the medical kit that you have received. It is important to remember that your proctor is not there to teach you how to perform the skills, but to make sure you are performing them correctly and upholding the professionalism that goes with the allied health field. This unit we are discussing Pharmacology Medications. There are many important rules that apply to administering medications in the medical office. Please answer all the following questions on what you will do to make sure you are a successful medical assistant. What have you learned from the P.R.I.C.E Model of Success that you feel will be important when meeting with your proctor, please explain your answer? What would you do if give a patient the wrong medication that was ordered
from the physician? You will be presented with many different medications in the medical facility. What will you personally do to educate yourself about medications you are unfamiliar with? In your opinion, what is the most important takeaway that was presented in this unit’s material and how will it relate to your career as a medical assistant? Please pose a question to your classmates that you feel will enhance this unit’s learning. Please review post and response expectations. Please review the rubric to ensure that your response meets criteria. Estimated time to complete: 2 hours Peer Response Instructions: Please post 2 peer responses. In the response post, include the following: Answer the question posed by your classmate. Please review post and response expectations. Please review the rubric to ensure that your response meets criteria. Estimated time to complete: 1 hour My job is making sure daily needs are met. I assist with feeding, bathing, changing and daily activities. My plans after finishing school are to work in a doctor office setting as a medical assistant, as well as going back to school for a nurse practitioner degree. My degree I'm pursuing is LPN; I have to do this program so I could get my GPA high enough to be in the LPN program. I see myself applying the information I've learned in this course to become successful in the medical field. P.R.I.C.E are the keys to success. I will apply all skills from P.R.I.C.E when meeting with my Proctor as well as when I'm hands on out on Externship. If I gave a patient the wrong medicine order from the physician. I will let the patient know that they were given the wrong medication. Allowed him to know that everything should be OK and know that the physician knows that he ordered the wrong medication. Also educate them about the side effects of the medication that was given, if they need more care the patient maybe ask to go to the ER or after care medical facility.
For medication as I am not up-to-date with understanding medication I don’t have knowledge of reading the side effects I would read the offbrand name of the medication the generic brand I would also allow myself to have updated knowledge on side effects of medication. I’m not familiar with I will do research on unfamiliar medication’s that I have a knowledge of what I’m giving to a patient. In my opinionI feel like in this chapter I will take away a lot of information, learning different medications, as well as understanding the side effects of different medications. Understanding why certain medications are giving why you can’t give certain types of medications together just the real knowledge of knowing about different medicines it’s really big to me because again I’m a CNA so I know about giving care but not so much about medication she believe this unit this class was teaching me a lot in my medical career . My question to my peers is how do you see this class Been helpful in giving you more knowledge different types of medication as well as the generic brand names?
