Teresa Sandoval Professor Towns Develop Appropiate Curricululm CRN: 70776 November 12, 2022 Infant and Toddler: 3 Dimensional Model Discussion In my 3D Daycare Model, the entrance is to the left of the model. Outside of the classroom is the student’s plants and by the door is a watering can, so they can water their plants before they go home for the day. By the entrance, there is a cubby for student’s to put their personal belongings that they don’t want to lose. The cubbies can also hold belongings that parents brought for their child specifically, like pacifiers, bottles, wipes, and diapers. There should be a sink by the entrance or exit to the playground, so children can wash their hands when they arrive, before they eat and come back from the playground. Behind the cubby, the gated area is a safe soft place for children to take a nap safely. Inside the pen there is also a boppy, for infants. Nearby is the math area and art area. On the children’s math table, is a counting worksheet with counting coins. Next to the math table is the art table, there are pencils, knitting supplies, and a easel with canvases for children to paint. Infront of the math and art area is the play area. There are building blocks and a plush bear, key rings. There is a toy piano, and a stacking to. Next to the play area is the Reading and Sharing area. There is a ABC carpet for children to sit on and a cat and bear sofa, along with a floor Sit Me Up. Children can get cozy in the Reading and Sharing area and share what they had for dinner and what they look forward to while they wait for their classmates to arrive. There are books on the sofas and near this area, is a science table with a globe and a volcano that the class can make erupt at the end of class. In the top right corner is the teacher’s desk. The teacher has scissors and a sign-in sheet for when students arrive and the time they arrived and get checked out. The teacher also has a bookcase with worksheets, books, binders and more.In the bottom
Teresa Sandoval Professor Towns Develop Appropiate Curricululm CRN: 70776 November 12, 2022 right corner is the exit the playground, next to the door are the outside toys, a ball, a baseball bat, a mitt and a baseball. To go outside to play, children must wait in the numbered squares until the teachers make sure all students are ready to go outside and play. The walls are decorated with the student’s artwork and put lower on the wall to meet a child’s stature so they can easily see their work. The wall has children’s paintings, drawings, their “Things I like about me!”, hand turkeys, and fish scale names. There is a board with what children celebrate in December, a calendar next to it along with numbers and sign language ABC’s. There is the shapes board where children color and cut out their favorite shape, the birthday week rainbow and the emotion triange to help children make out their feelings. This 3d model has a developmentally appropriate curriculum and environment. Math: For math curriculum, in this classroom there is a math table. At the math tabe, children are given a work sheet with numbers 1-5. The students are encouraged to use counting coins and put the amount if coins the row calls for. In the Sharing/Reading Area, there is a number line where the class can practice counting to 10 as a whole group. There also happens to be building blocks in the play area. Culture: In the Sharing Area, there is a pin board where children were asked what they celebrate in December. Some children celebrate Christmas and New Years. Others celebrate Kwanzaa or Hannukkah and some only celebrate their birthdays. On the wall in the Sharing area, there is also a Calander where parents and students can add holidays they celebrate. There also happens to be an ABC sign language chart, some may say that Sign is it’s own community and should be respected as one. Children and parents are encouraged to try sign and share their own personal beliefs in a respectful manner.
Teresa Sandoval Professor Towns Develop Appropiate Curricululm CRN: 70776 November 12, 2022 Science: In the classroom, the student’s have a table with a globe where every so often the teacher will go over different continents and their weather. There also happens to be a Volacano that the teacher and children will make erupt at the end of class. By the entrance door, there is a watering can so students can water their plants before they head home. Reading: To ensure a reading curriculum, the reading area has age appropriate books and the teacher has books for storytelling time. Students will be asked questions after reading, whether to find a color or who they liked character wise. Students will also be put on a square on the carpet and encouraged to say a word that starts with the letter they’re on. For example, Brandon is on letter D, so she might say Dog. Physical Development: When it comes to Physical Development, this classroom has activities to help with fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, balance and gross motor skills. Infants are encouraged to practice rolling, crawling and walking, strengthening their gross motor skills and so are toddlers. Outside in the playground, students can strengthen their other gross motor skills like running, bouncing, hopping and throwing. Children also need to have manipulative skills and dexterity. The younger children improve their ability to control and coordinate their fine motor skills, by playing and using objects that require fine body movement and manipulation, like eating using utensils and building blocks. Older children can paint, draw, knit and use puzzles. Other activities to help fine motor skills can be outside like sensory tables, playdough and peg boards. Infants can strengthen their neck muscles by using the boppy in the sleep area. Social and Emotional Development: To help with a child’s social and emotional development, the teacher will create a schedule to follow and will share it with their students.

Teresa Sandoval Professor Towns Develop Appropiate Curricululm CRN: 70776 November 12, 2022 Once the children have a routine and know what to expect they may be more comfortable in the class. As students arrive the teacher will give the child different options on how they want to be greeted/welcomed to the class to teach consent. For example, out of a high-five, fist bump, and elbow bumping, Cara chose to simply say Hi.The teacher can have children share things until the bell rings for class to start. For example, this clasroom’s schedule would be easily understood by students. Children are naturally curious and changing the environment, experiences, and learning enviornment may help children stay interested. In the classroom, sharing, cleaning up, respect for others, and cooperation is encouraged. Children will also be encouraged to solve their own problems with the teacher’s acting as monitor. Working out their own issues teaches them independence and effective problem solving skills. Although, “...Children may become too embroiled in an argument to settle it alone…”, then a teacher may suggest viable solutions like sharing or taking turns (Gordon & Browne, pg. 324). Previously, in the classroom children had an assignment where they were asked to mention 2 things they liked about themselves, the older children wrote what they liked about themselves. Near the exit, there is the Triange of Emotions to help students name and identify what they feel. Children may have worksheets with simple smiley, angry, sad faces and be asked to label what they feel. Children are also encouraged to voice how they may feel about a certain situation. Play is also a great way for children to express how they feel and often children use play as an outlet. The children also have a monthly assignment where they have to write or say 2 things they like about themselves to help their self- esteem and get them comfortable with self-love. Language Development: Throughout the classroom, there are ways to help with a child’s language development. There is the ABC Carpet, the abc line and the teacher has flash

There are also books that the teacher can read to the class during storytime and the older children are encouraged to write and name the animals, people and objects in their artwork. In the Sharing Area, children are able to share things they ate, look forward to, new toys they got, and what they have planned later in the day. The teacher will be asking the questions and be looking out for Phonology, Semantics, Syntax, and Though Processing. The teacher will display Pragmatic Abilites during storytelling time to keep children engaged in the story. Cognitive Development: Children need to develop the ability to “plan, predict, regulate, amd evaluate any given task or situation experienced.” (Jennifer Paris). Children are given time to have longer play periods so they can partake in social and cognitive play. These students are in the Jean Piaget Sensorimotor Stage of Cognitive development. These children will be using their motor movements and learn through their senses. Outside children can play catch and engage in tactile play. Teachers can also play peek-a-boo with infants to help with object permanence, Books like “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?” are great for younger children and older and the bold colors help keep the students engaged. Infants will also be repetitive in their play and try to do Primary Circular Reactions, aswell as Secondary Circular Reactions, and Tertiary Circular Reactions. Tasks that I previously mentioned in Physical Development also apply to Cognitive Development because all the Developmental domains are interlooped Creative Development: When it comes to Creative Development, in my class I made sure to add a station/area where children can knit, paint and draw. These students are given time in each station to take their time when they create their art or when they play. Children will also be encouraged to create their own magical creature and color it, this month the children made
Teresa Sandoval Professor Towns Develop Appropiate Curricululm CRN: 70776 November 12, 2022 hand turkey art and drew a picture of something they celebrate in December. They also colored their favorite shapes. They have sensory tables outside they can play with to make sand castle or play with small pirates. Outside there are small monkey bars and slides, with foot-to-floor cars and swing, outside the children can use their imagination to play in a wider range area or if they chose can stay by the classroom with the sensory tables or use coloring books the teacher will bring out. Building Blocks: Building blocks are so great they could be their own curriculum. Building blocks can help children learn many concepts like Science, Math, Art, Language, Physical Development, Social Development, Cognitive and Social Studies. We’ll focus on the first ones though. With a Science Curriculum, they help teach gravity, height, stability, ramps, balance, weight and interaction of forces. With Language, they help with shape and size recognition, giving directions, writing and drawing plans, comparisons, and communicating ideas. With Math, it helps with numbers, depth, height, length, size relationships, shape, size, mapping and space. With Art, children can make symmetric pieces, make designs, create drawings on the blocks and patterns. For Physical Development, building blocks help hand manipulation, visual perception, and hand-eye coordination. For Social Development, they help with conflict resolution, respect for other’s spaces, negotiation, cooperation, and sharing. For Cognitive Development, it helps children understand the different shapes, discover new building patterns, planning, understand sizes and naming shapes.
