1-2 Discussion: Introduction
Throughout this course, you and your peers will create a coding community in the discussions, where you can ask each other questions, share ideas, and build your skills together. This is a place where you can reach out for help when you need it.
In your initial post for this discussion, introduce yourself to your peers, briefly state which program you are in, and discuss your career aspirations. Address at least two of the following:
Name one event or person that influenced you to pursue a degree in your field.
What is your comfort level with programming?
Which skills are you most confident in?
Which skills need the most improvement?
What strategies do you plan to use to manage your time and complete assignments in this course?
Reflect on the material you have reviewed so far in Module One. What questions do you have so far?
In responding to your classmates, compare your posts and discuss the following:
What did you find interesting or relatable in your peers' posts?
What tips can you share with your peers to help address the challenges they discussed in their initial posts?
Hello Class,
My name is Tony Blackmon, I am a veteran pf the United States Army. I am studying Cyber-
Security and hoping to become a specialist in this field of study. I am studying this degree because my identity was stolen, and I want to prevent this from happening to others.
As a beginner, I am very uneasy but very excited to learn programming. Uneasy because I am a complete novice on any programming language, but very excited to dive in and learn everything that is to learn about programming, and I have always wanted to learn about the IT
field.
The strategies I plan to use, take plenty of notes, use my academic, personal support, and practice scripting daily. Using the strategies, I have in place I am confident I can excel in this class.
Thank You,
Tony
3-4 Discussion: Reflection
Now that you have completed the first three modules, take some time to reflect on what you have learned and discuss your learning with your peers. Answer the following questions:
What was the most interesting thing you learned in the modules?
What concepts do you feel are unclear or do you need more practice applying?
What are you most excited to learn next?
How did you overcome any roadblocks you encountered while going through the activities?
This assignment will be graded pass/fail based on your completion of the discussion. You are encouraged, but not required, to respond to your peers.
Hello Class,
This is my first time doing any type of scripting language and so far, I think I have the language down pretty good. I have found that strings and integers are very interesting, however, I am very unclear on how to write in script itself. I find it very difficult to put things in script form and zybooks, but with this difficulty I need to practice more.
I am very excited about learning how to execute this task of putting strings, integers, and other forms into scripting languages. And that is the roadblock I face right now. Once I have achieved this goal of putting things in script language, I should have a better grasp of this course. This will
take practice and more practice to get this done. And I will never give up.
Thank you, Tony
5-4 Discussion: Reflection
Now that you have completed the first five modules and Project One, take some time to reflect
on what you have learned and discuss your learning with your peers. Be sure to address at least two of the following questions:
What was the most interesting thing you learned in the modules or created for the project?
What concepts do you feel are unclear or do you need more practice applying?
What are you most excited to learn next?
How did you overcome any roadblocks you encountered while going through the activities or project?
This assignment will be graded pass/fail based on your completion of the discussion. You are encouraged, but not required, to respond to your peers.
Hello Class,
What I found interesting and challenging is the whole game concept and the coding aspect. I still have a lot to learn on this, but I think I am getting the hang of it all, and with more practice and tutoring I will get better at it.
What concepts I feel unclear about and need more practice on is the math part. I am not very good at math, especially Calculus. But, again with more practice and tutoring I can and will get better at it.
What I am most excited about is stringing everything together and creating things like the game we are developing. I find this most interesting.
The roadblocks I have is finding tutoring and academic support in a timely manner. They have a schedule and sometimes they are booked past our due dates, but I am still optimistic about learning this career and I will not give up.
Thank you.

7-4 Discussion: Reflection
Now that you have completed seven modules and both projects, take some time to reflect on what you have learned and discuss your learning with your peers. Be sure to address at least two of the following questions:
What was the most interesting thing you learned in the modules or created for the projects?
What concepts do you feel are unclear or that you need more practice applying?
What are you most excited to learn next?
How did you overcome any roadblocks you encountered while going through the activities or project?
This assignment will be graded pass/fail based on your completion of the discussion. You are encouraged, but not required, to respond to your peers.

8-1 Discussion: Python in Context
Note: This discussion follows the standard discussion format. Your initial post is due on Thursday, and your response posts are due on Sunday.
Reflect on your work in the whole course, considering all the different aspects of programming in Python that you've learned. How can Python be applied to solve real-world problems? You may need to do a little research to find some interesting applications. Be sure to include citations, in APA format, for any resources that you use.
In your initial post, address the following:
What was your experience level with programming when you started the course?
How has your comfort level with programming changed as a result of this course?
What was the most challenging activity?
What is an interesting way that Python is used to solve a real-world problem?
What are your goals with programming?
What additional skills would you like to acquire?
In responding to your classmates, compare and contrast your posts.
What did you find interesting or relatable in your peers' posts?
Based on what you have written in your response post, consider sharing an interesting website or article related to Python.
Hello Class,
When I started this class, I had no experience with programming and absolutely no knowledge of
Python. I was/still not comfortable with programming. However, I am still somewhat uneasy about it all. I will continue to use resources like tutoring and YouTube to help me get through this
journey and get better at it.
The projects were very time consuming and the hardest part for me. Typing code and making simple mistakes like misspelling a word or misplacing a colon and having to go back and fix it. Python can be used in many ways like social media, project management and so many more.
My personal goal with programming is to become a cyber-security specialist. I have had my identification stolen before and I want to prevent it from happening to others. An additional skill I would like to learn from programming is game development. I love video games and would like to explore the subject further.
I know I have a long way to go in my studies of computer science and information technology, but I am better than when I started and I will get through this with the help of my resources like tutoring and YouTube videos to help me with.
Thank You,
Tony
