Report
Bisheaba Griffin March 18, 2024 MAT133 2-3 Milestone One My research topic of choice is: Partnerships after prison: Couples Relationships During Reentry (Comfort, Kriegar, Landwhr, Lindqist, Feinburg, Kennedy, and Bin) I have decided to focus on the topic based on the relationships of those who are currently or have been incarcerated, and how these relationships are formed. After release from prison, I would like to focus on the effects and challenges of these relationships and those around me such as children and the families involved. The well-being and happiness of these relationships and what happened after their release from prison. According to the research presented, questions were asked of each couple and the challenges faced during their time incarcerated (RTI PRESS 2020) and after reentry. They were split into three groups (males, females, and couples) The purpose of the research was to determine if inmates were comfortable with discussing their partners alone without them and to determine the number of challenges involved with dating while incarcerated. According to the study, most couples were at ease about sharing their relationship and others were not. Most were honest about their relationships with them. The research conducted focused primarily on couples and how they were to be intimate after reentry, while incarcerated the other topic was the challenges they faced after being released from and reentering society. Such as stable employment being adjusted to society, family, and children. Most of these questions were provided to inmates and family in yes or no questions. In conducting these studies and questions allowed each couple and individual to share their experiences and feelings on their experiences dating someone incarcerated. The researcher will use the information collected to provide solutions as well as resources for those who are married or dating someone incarcerated and the impact that dating an inmate could impose on others. After being released from prison, the researchers began a study in 2019 the research consisted of people who had been incarcerated , were divided into groups. Many of those couples were upfront about their involvement with an inmate , while others weren't too forthcoming. The information provided us with the number of inmates who weren't comfortable with sharing their experiences versus those who were comfortable with sharing their experiences with their children and family. The study ended after data was collected and was able to create a plan from
the inmate’s and their partners. In conclusion of the study, it proves that researchers were able to obtain clan data to determine the research on couples and their relationship after reentry is valid. Most couples ended up ending their relationships, or if married, ended in divorce. References: Comfort, M., Krieger, K., Landwehr, J. G., McKay, T., Lindquist, C., Feinberg, R.
