Week 10 Finance Project I have chosen my career path as an ICU RN. As an ICU nurse, you must use critical thinking nursing skills and training to closely monitor and assess fragile and vital patients in severe conditions. These patients are often on a ventilator and hooked up to multiple medication drips. As an ICU nurse, you must be able to adjust to a situation based on critical needs. In this Financial Assignment, I have researched an ICU RN's projected annual gross salary. I currently live in Louisville, KY. The closest hospital is about 10 miles away in Louisville, KY, where I work. A Registered Nurse at Norton Healthcare makes about $80,000 on
average working in the ICU. After total deductions, my net income would be $53,333 a year. My
monthly expenses total is $4,075. My monthly net income total is $4,444.
Based on those calculations, I should have $369 left after my income expenses. I have chosen this location because this is where I currently live, and I have worked for this company for the past ten years. I have selected this employer because I have worked for this company for the past ten years. I started my medical career as a Medical Assistant with this company. I enjoy working for this company, and they have helped put me through nursing school. I was surprised by my income after taxes because it appears that I will have little income left after expenses. My challenge in creating my budget was having too many costs, with rent being the highest expense.
I made a savings fund, but I want to add more to my savings monthly. My current situation is that I have more than I realized. My leftover savings will be less than 1% of my monthly net income.
