Learning Goal: Students will be able to multiply a fraction by a whole number by scoring at least an 80% in their math quiz.
1.
Kahoot: Fun and engaging game based online platform that provides accessibility to
create, share and play games. Kahoot can be accessed online and played many ways.
Kahoot gives the opportunity for students to play live against their own classmates,
individually or via video conferencing. A.
With this learning platform, Students can play against their classmates. A question is
presented, and they have a multiple-choice answer. As soon that they answer what they
think is the correct answer, the platform offers them the feedback immediately. They will
know if the answer was the correct, and if not the correct on will be provided. Teachers
will be to see immediately the percentage of students that got the correct or wrong
answer. Kahoot helps the student meet the learning goal by providing multiple choice
math problems that help them identify the correct answer by multiplying a fraction by a
whole number.
B.
Kahoot facilitates deep learning by providing them the opportunity to practice over and
over, which allow the student to learn thru repetition and master the concepts. This
platform also provides a hands-on approach and engaging way to learn and facilitate
learning for students. With the results the teacher can also see where the students are
needing more help and one on one instruction.
C.
Kahoot is also a great platform to accommodate individual learning differences. It gives
students the opportunity to work at their own pace and work with their classmates. It
also provides them a hands-on approach at the level where they are at. As a learning
technology that is presented as a game it provides more interest for those students that
have a hard time understanding when the teacher is instructing or have a hard time
concentrating. Providing a fun approach definitely helps capture attention form the
students and support their learning.
D.
Kahoot is an easy platform that can be accessed thru their Google Classroom. This can
be accessed form the classroom or from home.
2.
BrainPOP: Is a platform that provides a curriculum that is based on interactive quizzes,
learning games and animated movies that explain different concepts from different
topics.
A.
BrainPOP supports the achievement of the learning goal by providing different
interactive videos that explain how to multiply fractions and provides examples how to
do it. This presented as a cartoon which draws the students attention. This platform then
offers an interactive quiz of different math problems and students resolve them and
answer them. After it is completed, student receive immediate feedback and know what
they did correctly and incorrectly. It allows them to redo the quiz to try again.
B.
When the students complete the learning games that BrainPOP provides about
multiplying fractions, this provides the student with a better concept of how to better
understand this concept. Practice makes perfection. Only practicing the math problems
will provide the students with better understanding and facilitate a deeper learning of
the subject.
C.
BrainPOP accommodates individual learning differences by allowing teachers to create
their own animated style movies for students. This helps them create them based on the
needs of each student. They are allowed to modify the text, speech and images based
on their needs. D.
BrainPOP can be assigned to students through Google Classroom and can be done in the
classroom or at home depending on the need of the student. 3.
Prodigy- is an interactive platform that combines learning with play. It provides practice
curriculum-aligned math skills while playing games. A.
This interactive platform provides students with math games that allow them to
practice different math skills. On this platform students can create their own
character and complete quests that consist of completing different math problems
that focus on multiplying fraction by a whole number. B.
Prodigy facilitates deep learning by building games that adapt to the exact needs the
students have. It provides math problems that will allow them to sharpen their skills
in multiplying fraction by whole numbers. By creating this in a fantasy role playing
video game it makes learning fun and usually when kids are learning and having fun
at the same time, it allows them to better understand the concept.
C.
Prodigy accommodates individual learning differences by allowing teachers to see
their students progress and differentiate assignments based on the skill that the
student needs to improve. If the student is having trouble overall with their
multiplication, then the teacher can provide fun games that practice their
multiplication skills. D.
Prodigy can be assigned to students through Google Classroom and can be accessed
in the classroom or at home depending on the need of the student.
4.
I believe that Kahoot is the best learning technology for students to be able to meet
their learning goals. This is a tool that allows the students to have fun while learning. It
keeps students engaged while learning new and different skills. I have always seen
students excited about competing with their classmates to see how high they can get on
the leaderboard. Healthy competition allows them to want to do their best. It can be
used to create different math problems involving multiplication of fractions and then the
whole class can compete against each other to see how their understanding about the
subject is. It provides the student and the teacher with useful feedback that can help
students meet their learning goal.
