Which one was x and which one was y? The two quantitative variables from my dataset are the number of marriages (per year) and the median hourly wage (in dollars). My x variable is my median hourly wage and my y variable is the number of marriages. - What type of linear relationship do you believe exists between x and y? Positive: As x gets larger, y tends to get larger Negative: As x gets larger, y tends to get smaller Personally, I believe there will be a positive linear relationship between both variables. 3) Do a scatter plot of y versus x and insert this scatter plot into your Word document (overlay the best fitting line). Does the scatter plot seem to support the nature of the relationship between x and y that you thought from part 2? No, the scatter plot doesn’t seem to support the positive linear relationship that I thought variables x and y would have.
