Week 6-Final Project! This week you will wrap up the course with an operations scenario. During Week 6, students will:  Discuss some of the internal and external variables that affect success in your organization. Operationally, how do these issues affect your ability to meet your goals?  Complete your final assignment in this course, which is the analysis of an operation scenario related to a competitor that sets up shop down the street. Using what you've learned in the course about operational topics, how might you react to a new challenger for your business? Topics this Week  Introduction  Content in Context  6.1 Class Participation  6.2 Operations Scenario 6.1 Class Participation Be prepared to discuss and answer the following questions:  How does a healthcare organization continue to operate under internal and external pressure for meeting projections and measures of success?  What plans must be made to ensure continued operation and adherence to meeting goals? 6.2 Operations Scenario Your organization is experiencing a drop-off in business due to the opening of a newer, more technologically advanced, and better capitalized organization down the street. This organization is owned by one of your former “star” producers, and while they are definitely not hostile on a personal level, this person still wants to take your part of the (you fill in the blank) segment of business. Aside from marketing, which is important but is not a part of this problem, discuss how you will achieve greater efficiency/effectiveness through implementing better project planning, utilization of evidence-based practice (EBP), supply chain management, or whatever else you think may be possible (given your facility’s existing operational data) to minimize the impact of this new challenger for your business.
