1 3-2 Short Paper: Agile QSO-435 SNHU Nate Windham March 21, 2024
2 Agile project management is a methodology that emphasizes dividing the overall project lifecycle into smaller tasks and more manageable timeframes. It prioritizes the delivery of a working product throughout the process rather than project deliverables and products at the end. This enables the project team and stakeholders to collaborate closely during the project execution while providing feedback, not just at the end. Because Agile project management is less rigid, teams can adjust to shifting conditions or project requirements and take unexpected turns when necessary (Good, 2023). Agile methods break down projects into multiple, condensed development cycles called sprints. This allows for small, temporary adjustments to be made at any point during the process, making them very versatile and adaptive. The Agile methodologies also makes use of iterative development, which allows testing to occur at any point during the program's life cycle. Agile project management also places a strong emphasis on encouraging the client to participate in all project phases and offer feedback. Agile methodology performs best when requirements change as a project moves forward. Finally, because Agile management does not require prior project experience, it can be implemented much more quickly than, say, the Waterfall method (What Is the Difference Between Project Management, Agile and Waterfall? - Agile Exam Academy, 2023). In a typical project management methodology, a stakeholder's role could be viewed as passive, with no active obligations related to the project's execution. The product owner, on the other hand, is the business user representative in the agile project management approach. Together with the project team, they will share accountability for the project's success. The project sponsor grants the product owner complete authority to decide how the project's specific
3 requirements will be carried out and incorporated into the finished product. The product owner must be an extremely competent subject-matter expert (Cobb, 2023). Apart from the aforementioned duties, the product owner is accountable for generating and upholding the product backlog, as well as organizing and ranking the backlog based on business values or return on investment. (ROI). Additionally, the product owner is expected to interact with all customer stakeholders in their capacity as the customer's representative, communicate their objectives and vision to the project team at the start of each release and sprint, and assess the state of the product at the conclusion of each sprint in order to approve or disapprove the work completed.
