Article Summary and Question: ULO#1: Describe some of the actions and attitudes that define Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Article: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Explained with Examples This article gives one an overview of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a business model focused on a company’s accountability to not only itself and stakeholders, but also to the public. Discussing the importance of CSR in enhancing society and the environment. All while outlining the key pillars of: Environmental responsibility, ethical responsibility, philanthropic and financial responsibility. This article also uses examples of CSR from Home Depo, Starbucks, and General Motors. One notable example that was used was Starbucks and their CSR efforts of investing in employee well-being by stock grants and enhanced benefits, while also having goals of being environmentally sustained by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water production. Question: How could smaller businesses participate in Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, considering their resources may have more of a limitation compared to larger corporations such as Starbucks, General Motors, and Home Depo?
