B. As I look back on this course and what I have learned about cultivating a professional identity in healthcare, I realize that it involves numerous factors. As healthcare providers, we need to evolve with time and changing values and beliefs, and always strive to be sensitive and aware of those around us. Our professional identities should be built on a foundation of ethical practice, as this is crucial for achieving high-quality, ethical, and equitable healthcare. As I reflect on this course, and what I have learned from it as we cultivate our professional identity as it is pertains, and always strive to be sensitive and aware of those around us. Our professional identities should be built on a foundation of ethical practice, as this is crucial for achieving high- quality, ethical, and equitable healthcare. As I reflect on this course, and what I have learned from it as we cultivate our professional identity as it is pertains to Health Care, this consists of many varied factors. Health care providers evolve as time goes on and as values and beliefs change, we must be steadfast in the development of oneself to be sensitive and aware of those around us. As we cultivate our professional identity of oneself to be sensitive and aware of those around us. As we cultivate our professional identities, it must be rooted in ethical practice, for this is the very foundation of the goal of quality, ethical and equitable health care. We as practitioners must identify with and adhere to a very certain code of ethics. Which emphasizes principles such as empathy, autonomy, collaboration and justice. We must maintain a commitment to awareness of biases that are unconscious and be brave enough to self-regulate. We must commit to always advocating for the interest of our patients. They look to us as professionals in their times of need. Our professional identity must always embrace a professional identity that is committed to Cultural competence to build the trust our patients 4
deserve. We must reflect critically on our actions and decisions. Ensuring they always align with standards and will contribute to the complete holistic care of our patients and communities. Maturing and growing in our professional identity supports not only competence in our field but also confidence in ourselves. The public will feel more comfortable that we can deliver effective health care. As healthcare providers, if we can build a strong professional identity if we can build a strong professional identity Leadership Skills and Mindset Reflection. C1 Leaders and managers play distinct but equally vital roles within organizations, and their responsibilities often overlap. However, their primary functions and approaches to achieving goals are different. Leadership does not require a title. Three skills a leader exemplifies are inspiration, innovation, motivation. Leadership is about inspiration and how people present themselves among their peers. They are cultivating a vision and direction that others will follow. A leader encourages innovation and pushes for positive change. Leaders are looked to motivate and inspire to pursue a common goal. The role of a leader is multifaceted. It is not only to drive vision but also to protect your team members and make them feel valued and listened to. Being a leader, you always drive the latest ideas and help your team see the mutual benefit as they drive towards their goals. Leaders are adept at building rapport and community and understanding that their team is their greatest asset. Management is contrary to leadership; management provides order and consistency, whereas leadership is about innovating and inspiring. The three skills a manager provides are organizing, directing, and achieving. A manager takes the vision and implements it into action, organizing and directing. Managing resources along with people is done with productivity cost vs profit margins. 5
Managers measure performance, set targets, and ensure daily goals are met. Managers are problem solvers and make sure the daily vision is executed. A manager also puts the leader's vision into action and efficiently organizes everything needed to achieve the common goal. Leaders and managers must work cohesively and in tandem to succeed. And often the best managers are also leaders at the same time. C2. Leadership the following three examples that I exemplify are servant, transformation, and democratic leadership. One of my strengths is servant leadership. My biggest goal is to ensure that my staff feels heard and that their opinions matter and count. Meeting their needs ensures that my Cath lab runs appropriately. When they feel safe, valued, and fulfilled, they perform at an extremely elevated level. I also value transformational leadership. It seems to piggyback off servant leadership. It involves building rapport and relationships with the staff and team members. This allows us to combine a shared vision and mission for our Cath lab, pushing us to provide the highest-quality care that we can offer for our patients. My staff is extremely skilled and experienced. They have a profound knowledge base in some areas even greater than my own. Knowing that and letting them make the decisions to help us flourish as a team is the greatest example of democratic leadership that I can think of. In management the following management styles that I exemplify are expertise, understanding, and collaboration. One of my management skills is expertise due to my ten years of working in this field and my vast knowledge base in all the procedures done in the Cath lab. It is my expertise that allows people to 6

look to me in times of doubt, knowing that I will be able to solve the issues that come up in the day-to- day. Another of my management skills is understanding. Understanding the needs and demands of this job for my staff and the demands of fiscal responsibility. I also understand how to implement and direct all tasks that need to be done in our daily tasks. My management skills with collaboration allow me to collaborate with the different departments within my hospital to ensure effective communication. To complete the task, we must complete the surgeries in our Cath lab; effective communication is required to collaborate appropriately. With effective communication, you can direct the day-to-day events inside a hospital. C3. Three absent leadership skills that I have identified are engaging in self-reflection, interpersonal understanding, and forward thinking. C3a. I often do not sit down and take the time to self-reflect. I get so busy and caught up in processes that I need to sit down once a week, or even once a month to journal and self-reflect and reevaluate where I am as a leader, manager, and even person. One of the ways I lack interpersonal understanding is I tend to act more impulsively. I often need a little time to go for a walk and contemplate things, if I do not, I act impulsively. When I am upset, or something does not sit right with me, instead of acting with emotion I need to take a little time to think it through and investigate before making a calm and rational decision. 7
An example that I lack forward thinking is I could help others reach their goals better. I have multiple EKG technicians in my department, and they are in nursing school. While I supervise their work, I could take more time to inspire them and mentor them in their career and educational goals. D1. The importance of having a leadership mindset influences me personally through the understanding that I need to grow daily to make sure. One example is to ask myself, Am I being self- aware? Am I aware of this person's culture? Am I sensitive to incorporating the principles of respect and diversity for inclusivity? Practicing self-compassion is the second example of a leadership mindset that will influence me personally. Am I able to forgive myself so I can move forward? Focusing on my strengths is one of the most significant ways to grow. D2. One example of the professional importance of having a leadership mindset is remembering to be present and present in the moment. If you are present, you can attend and be aware of all the situations around you. Being present can show people. You genuinely listen and care about their issues, which can build trust and rapport, making the person feel safe and secure. The second example is self- talk. You can both talk to yourself. Compassionately and critically, identifying your strengths and weaknesses is one of the keys to a leadership mindset. E. Two examples of how I would ensure equity and inclusivity as a leader in a healthcare environment are one awareness and two growths. Being aware that a leader leads by example and to make sure that I am a good example for my coworkers as they will take on my attitude to individuals or situations. By taking the time to gain sensitivity 8
to other cultures and reflect on myself and how I think and feel. I understand my own cultural values and how I think about perspectives and other cultures. The other example Is to work on and to build. To grow, to understand my own cultural sensitivities. In producing a plan on how to build principles of respect for the different diversities I will encounter, to make sure that people feel included. Building relationships is paramount as a leader. I must also endure to come to understand others and the cross-cultural experiences different than my own. This is lifelong. Goal of mine. It is always present and aware.
