Groups and Teams Explain how groups and teams are a part of your personal and professional life. Discuss a time when you worked as a team member to achieve a goal that affected an organization. What was the outcome of the group decision/project, and how did it impact a larger organization or system? (You may use examples from your personal or professional life to discuss the response.) Groups and teams play a huge role in both my personal and professional life. At the end of each quarter at work, I, along with my team of nine supervisors, am responsible for creating a Quarterly Business Review (QBR). This project is an ongoing project and the work for the next presentation begins immediately after we deliver the previous quarter’s QBR. This presentation is created in PowerPoint and is also delivered to our site’s VP. We are responsible for reporting out on our success and challenges. This past quarter, we had many challenges with performance and attendance. Due to our consistent engagement, we were able to pull together enough data to speak intelligently to the steps we took to address these challenges. There was one leader on my team who went on vacation one week before we were scheduled to deliver our presentation. The expectation was set to have it completed prior to vacation but it was never sent. He returned from vacation the morning before we were set to deliver, without his project in his hand. As the leader of the team, I had to inform the VP he would not be presenting during our QBR. This created a void of data for his team during our presentation. To correct this, I still had him complete his portion and deliver independently later. His lack of completion created a strain on the team as everyone worked hard to have their data ready in advance of the presentation.
