Discuss the short-term and long-term goals needed to be achieved in order to accomplish your organizational change. Be specific regarding the short-term and long-term goals of your topic. Make sure to provide support. To reducing administrative burden of health care entities I will focus on the following short term goals. First, conduct an assessment of current existing regulations that affect hospital operations and finances that may be redundant or outdated that contribute to administrative burden. Second, create a strong committee with the proper experts such as compliance, revenue cycle, finance, operations, nursing, clinical, insurance verification, coding, utilization review, legal, human resources, etc. This will ensure representation from difference departments are gathered to capture their diverse knowledge and depict their challenges. Third, prioritize the regulatory challenges based on the impact of daily operations resource allocation, and return on investment. Based on a report from the Colorado Hospital Associate (CHA, 2023) the majority of Colorado hospitals are operating in negative margins, reimbursements do not cover the cost of patient care. Colorado hospitals are facing a serious financial toll, with unprecedented losses reported approximately $1.8 billion through August 2022 (CHA, 2023). As for long term to reduce regulatory burden I would first advocate for legislative changes to addressing these systemic issues and also collaborate with industry associations such as Hospital Associations, policy makers and advocacy groups to influence regulatory reform. Second, I would invest in advanced healthcare information systems to assist in automating regulatory compliance. Utilizing technology to the best of it's capabilities to streamline reporting and documentation processes.
