My top three skills and my top three skills that I can improve from the Key Managerial Skills Inventory. To improve your managerial skills, you must accurately analyze the weaknesses and strengths that benefit an organization. From an organizational standpoint, managers set the tone for their departments and provide guidance and directions. Managers must be able to communicate up and down their organization's chain of command with vital information that can positively or negatively impact the organization. Managers have an enormous amount of responsibilities that they must carry out, from strategically planning and communicating their strategies effectively to leading and providing their visions to the organization. My top three skills from the management skills development assessment are my strengths overall. My job knowledge is number one, Assertiveness is second, and Oral communication is third; the assessment was accurate, and I agree that these are my most vital areas from a managerial perspective. You are an effective leader and genuinely understand your job, how to apply your knowledge, and how it is intertwined and correlated to your organization's duties and responsibilities. And you know each department in the organization and the day-to-day requirements. And you are also applying your technical skills and providing strategic planning to accomplish the overall plan and objectives. My second top skill is conflict management; to be an effective manager and be in a leadership role, you need to be able to resolve conflicts within your organization and come up with solutions that will be beneficial. Being an effective listening app, reaching each problem from a different set of lenses pro, providing feedback, and addressing the issues could result in a positive outcome for organizations. Lastly, my third top management skill is Assertiveness, which is having the ability to clearly state what you are expecting, ensure a positive outcome, and provide guidance to achieve success. Being assertive in the workplace is critical, knowing you have the confidence and the ability to handle any situation daily. The three managerial skills I can improve from the assessment are cooperation, persuasiveness, and negotiation. I agree with the assessment; these are areas that I have been aware of for some time and that I have been
constantly working on improving on. Managers must cooperate and improve the team's cooperation so that the workplace is safe. Get along with your peers, treat everyone respectfully, and make them feel part of the team through positive communication. Managers must include everyone to achieve a common goal, increasing organizational productivity. Persuasion plays a significant role in managerial skills; sometimes, you must influence your employees to perform their duties and succeed in their daily tasks. Communication is vital, and framing your conversation around a specific topic will need to persuade you to solve the problem and support your ideas with evidence that can establish credibility. Negotiation is a cornerstone of managerial skills; it is essential to communicate what you are expecting and the outcome of the negotiation. Managers constantly negotiate with their co-workers, departments, and suppliers on products and materials. Improving your managerial skills that need improvements will make an enormous difference in the success of organizations and positively impact overall performance. The management Role I selected is an Informational Role. The role of management has changed over the past few decades, and managers have been on the front line, ensuring that organizations' missions are being carried out daily. For managers to be successful, they have to be open to new ideas and provide their organization with innovative concepts that will enhance the overall success of the organization. Management can shape an organization; knowing the strengths and weaknesses can be instrumental. The management role I selected that will be beneficial in enhancing and strengthening my management skills is the Informational Role—being more involved in developing and working more effectively to accomplish organizational goals. “According to Mintzberg, developing allies is a fundamental and highly effective interpersonal influence tactic. It revolves around building supportive relationships with individuals who can help you achieve your goals” Mintzberg 1973). This management role will strengthen my abilities to build a better rapport and develop trust that will foster a positive workplace

environment, thus leading to teamwork and supporting my colleagues. Management needs to be perceived by their employees as genuinely caring for their well-being, opening more doors for managers to succeed. I will be discussing my top three management skills and how they can be beneficial in management roles. My top three management roles can be beneficial and are required to succeed in a leading manager role. Managers must be proficient and have a great understanding of their job and duties requirements. Management is responsible for every aspect, from providing strategies and planning to ensuring employees possess the necessary knowledge and skills. That said, management is responsible for mentoring, coaching, and training their employees and providing them with the tools and knowledge for their job specialization, resulting in more productive and motivated employees. My second management skill that will be beneficial is Assertiveness; in my experience working at the top management level, many of my peers need help being assertive and making timely decisions. Being decisive as a manager is vital; your team relies on you to make decisions and provide them with directions and guidance. “The most effective leaders are equipped with a range of skills. They balance out their Assertiveness by forming positive connections with people at multiple levels across the organization and communicating clearly and personally” (Folkman, 2013). By setting the example, your peers and employees will follow you and respect your decisions; balancing being assertive and not going overboard is essential to knowing when to interview and when not to and allowing others to have an opinion and be part of the decision process. Being an effective manager, understanding when to be assertive and knowing when to step aside is essential. My third is Oral Communication; being in management leadership positions, effective communication is an important skill set that all managers strive to implement daily. From my perspective, oral communication has been beneficial in many ways; by communicating with team members and demonstrating to them from a leadership standpoint, I can effectively get my point across to them without any misunderstandings. Oral
communication is essential for leaders to master and become effective communicators in their professional and personal lives. I will be addressing how I can strengthen my top three skills. For management in leadership positions to succeed in climbing the corporate ladder, they must be willing to make sacrifices and make tough decisions that reflect their character. Top organizations are looking for well-rounded managers who can communicate effectively and add value to their organizations. I can improve my overall job knowledge by increasing my understanding of the fundamentals at the lower levels. As a senior manager, I will better understand each management level, which will help me become more well-rounded and strengthen my managerial skills and knowledge. I can reinforce my assertiveness skills in the following manner: I would improve upon balancing Assertiveness and making sound judgments. Refarming from being overly intense and firmer and becoming a better negotiator increases my overall Assertiveness. Oral communication is one area that I can strengthen, which will be whenever I convey my message, work on my delivery, and not be overly aggressive, and body language as well. Listening and paying closer attention to the conversation and letting the others speak before interrupting them is essential; if someone feels like you are not listening to them, they will turn you off immediately. Lastly, using the appropriate nonverbal verbal cues will be instrumental as well. Conclusion In conclusion, managers and leaders in leadership positions will continue to be challenged, and it is up to you as a manager to look for ways to improve your overall performance and become an intricate part of your organization. You are increasing your knowledge, being an effective leader, and leading your subordinates to develop them into future leaders and managers. Having an accurate evaluation of oneself can lead to positive changes. Management and managers in leadership roles must continue to improve
professionally and be more assertive when making decisions that can negatively or positively affect an organization.
