From this week's readings, do you buy Ford et al.'s contention that resistance IS a form of change? In guiding ourselves and others through change processes, how do we determine when is the right time to cast change into action, and how do we know if the pace of change is too fast or too slow? How might awareness of one's time orientation be used to frame the rationale and motivation for change? I do buy Ford et al.’s contention that resistance is a form of change. Change is challenging for most organizations because the critical failure to change is the employee’s attitude toward the change. Often, employees’ resistance’s leading cause is what the change does for them. Thus, it is essential to shape employees’ resistant nature to implement the change better. In order to prepare for the right time to deliver the change, organizations should first implement and prepare employees’ readiness for change (RFC). Based on Rehman et al. (2021), when organizations show honesty and the intended goal of the outcomes and rewards of the change, then when it is the right time to cast change into action, it would not interfere with the process. The pace of the change should be steady. The goal is to set a timeframe, steps, and deadline for each change. Surveys and feedback on the completion should be kept track; therefore, organizations can tell when the pace is too fast or too slow. One’s time orientation can be used to shape the rationale and motivation for change by bringing awareness and utilizing the past, present, and future. These three time orientations can be used interchangeably by pointing out the process that did well in the past; however, that process is not working now, and changes need to be accomplished to keep the success going.
