2 Effective Supervision Behaviors and the Strengths Perspective Effective managers are self-aware, open-minded, and interested in learning what drives their workforces (Larimore, 2013). However, according to studies, managers' discretionary choices about the time spent acquiring clinical skills via supervision vary significantly (Choy- Brown & Stanhope, 2018). As supervisors influence the workplace by their behaviors, it is essential to develop crucial abilities like motivation and communication (Gerhardt, n.d.). Nevertheless, some leadership theories encourage an unjustified emphasis on moral, heroic leaders above the development of others and an awareness of organizational limits (Alvesson & Einola, 2019). There is a need for more critical, realistic examinations of how leaders manage conflicting demands. Adequate supervision emphasizes developing skills in communication and conflict resolution (Larimore, 2013; Gerhardt, n.d.). However, just allocating time for supervision does not guarantee that it focuses on developing skills via best practices, including direct staff interaction observation (Choy-Brown & Stanhope, 2018). I make an effort to be a mindful leader who considers organizational dynamics beyond utopian concepts. I want to foster an environment where people feel free to voice concerns and where leaders are not afraid to admit their weaknesses. Excellent supervision is essential, but it must be flexible given the limitations. Moral principles are important, but emphasizing heroic leaders too much might undermine the strength of others. Organizations need complex viewpoints to manage competing demands at all levels. More research is encouraged into how leaders manage conflicting principles and organizational limits rather than moral leadership theories, which run the danger of becoming leader-centric (Alvesson & Einola, 2019). Realistic insights might be gained by researching how
3 leaders handle challenging circumstances, transition into new responsibilities, and balance openness and vulnerability. Open-mindedness, self-awareness, and developing necessary abilities are characteristics of effective leadership, according to Larimore (2013). However, these take place in complicated environments, necessitating sophisticated comprehensions of organizational behavior beyond simple, idealized models. Knowing the fundamentals of supervision is vital, but it must be used creatively. According to research, management time allocation is greatly influenced by organizational factors, but supervision that focuses on skill development makes a substantial impact; instead of placing an overabundance of emphasis on moral principles and bravery, realistic studies of how leaders manage conflicting demands are required. To empower all levels of an agency, nuanced views on handling organizational realities are essential.
