Week 11 Assignment 10 1-Do you use any word-learning games in the classroom? If so, which ones, and how do they work? BINGO: Vocabulary is an important part of learning language and there are always words that students need to learn to better understand the concepts being taught. Vocabulary Bingo is one of the games that it works for my students, and it works for all levels: letters Bingo, vocabulary Bingo, Arabic Numbers Bingo, jobs Bingo, places Bingo etc. how it works: How do I generate bingo cards? Enter the bingo title, select the size of your bingo card grid, and type your items into the squares. Whatever items you enter in the squares will be shuffled around when the bingo cards are generated. You can add numbers (like in traditional bingo), words, phrases.
Another Activity: Flyswatter Words on the Board Write each vocabulary word on the board. Divide the class into 2 teams. Have one student from each team come to the board holding a flyswatter. Read the definition of a vocabulary word. Students should race to see who can locate the correct word on the board the fastest. When they find it, they should hit the word on the board with the flyswatter. Play until everyone in the class has had at least one turn! There are too many activity to do which can be solitary/social, auditory, motor(kinesthetic or mechanical) or learning thought collaborate, based on the environment, students personality, and learner’s preferred styles, teachers should be curative to make students stay motivated. Teachers should select an appropriate activity/game to help students develop vocabularies and build conversation. 2- Have you taught or been taught dictation ءلامإ in Arabic? How can dictation in Arabic best be taught? When should they be taught? Researchers state that one of the most successful forms of practice in listening and writing Arabic is the dictation exercise.; Dictation is useful at all stages, in beginning stage and in advanced level. One way could practice dictation is to invite students to write words on the board. For beginners is very important for English speakers who learn Arabic use their handwriting and hear the sounds and should not simply copy the words from the book. Arabic learners should know the difference between “tha” and “ta”. Besides all these mentioned before, handwriting is a physical motor skill that develop dexterity and reinforced what is learned. Handwriting is a digital memory when connecting sounds and shapes of words (Ryding p.190). Regular dictation (imla ءلاما ) exercise which described as a note taking can build comprehension skills at all level of proficiency. Through dictation, students can indicate what they hear, how they grasp orthography, and how they can be able to use Arabic script in handwriting. In
