Assignment 4.
A.
How many judicial systems are in the United States?
The Constitution in the United States created federalism, so each state has to make its laws. One
system is the state court system, and the other is the federal court system. Two judicial systems
are in the United States.
B.
What is the meaning in the U.S. Supreme Court of original jurisdiction?
The Supreme Court is the highest in the United States; the Supreme Court's original jurisdiction
is that this court has the legal ability and right to hear cases for the first time. Also, certain cases
Supreme Court review or resolve some cases decided or heard by lower courts.
C.
What is the meaning in the U.S. Supreme Court of appellate jurisdiction?
The appellate jurisdiction has the right and legal ability to modify or reverse cases that lower
courts have decided. If the lower court's decision is unacceptable for the individuals, they can
appeal, and the appellate court will hear the cases. In both criminal and civil law, appellate
jurisdiction exists.
D.
What Article of the United States Constitution sets the number of Supreme Court
Justices?
The United States Constitution sets the Supreme Court Justices in Article III Section I.
3. Why is the (Marbury)considered by many to be the most important legal case ever
decided by the Supreme Court.
In Marbury v Madison the commission was undelivered to Marbury; that is why Marbury's right
was violated. Marbury sued Madison under the Judiciary Act of 1789, but the Supreme Court
stated that the Judiciary Act of 1789 was unconstitutional. (Calvi &Coleman 2002 p. 130) The
judicial review had been established, and the Supreme Court had the legal right to declare a law
that is unconstitutional.
Article

I decided to choose this article because I found it very interesting that a document can be worth
20 million dollars. The U.S. Constitution first printed edition is now on auction; the bids could
be 20 million or more.
