Week 11 Short answer: A foreman at Progressive Electric told employees that the company’s president, “didn’t want any union crap around here,” and that “if the unions got into Progressive, Progressive would lose contracts and go out of business because Progressive couldn’t afford the union wages and benefits”. Is the foreman in violation of the NLRA?
The foreman is in violation of NLRA because with what he said the employees could have felt threatened by it. If he just stated, the views of the company’s president about not wanted unions to form and that be it. It would have been fine, but instead the foreman added that Progressive would go out of business if unions form causes the company can’t afford the wages and such. In Section 7 of the NLRA it guarantees employees the right to organize and join unions. The foreman is also in violation because he is interfering with the union organizing.
