Report
1 Challenges of Prosecuting Online Child Sexual Predators Alexis Sutherland American Military University CMRJ515: Sexual Exploitation of Children Dr. Ron Wallace March 19, 2023
2 Proposal The topic that I wish to research is how investigators are challenged by complexities of the online world while trying to identify, locate, unlock the true identities, arrest, and successfully prosecute people who sexually exploit children or are child predators by way of the internet. This is important because there are so many barriers that must be broken and legal regulations that must be adhered to in order to not jeopardize the investigation and allow an offender to go free. By doing this research, I hope to accomplish a better understanding of the methods that investigators must utilize and the laws that must be followed in order successfully prosecute a child offender while presenting the information to others who may be interested as well.

The author takes qualitative and quantitative data that has been gathered and draws the correspondence between how far an online child offender is willing to travel in order to follow through with the in person acts after the initial online conduct with a child victim. That information is then taken and correlated to the jurisdiction borders and how the different agencies work together to arrest and prosecute the offender.
