Response to Tamara Gonzalez
Topic 1
Hello Tamara. I totally agree that the adversarial system is primarily a debate between
two sides that are opposing. These two sides are only seeking the truth and who is right in the
case. Truly, this system functions in a manner that produces some ethical challenges (Bakken,
2007). For real, some attorneys are selfish enough to pursue a case by violating their ethical
responsibility to win the case when it’s not genuine. Some lawyers also decline clients’ offers
when they understand the case well and know that the possibility of winning the case is minimal
as you have put (Pollock, 2014). I like the description that the adversarial system does not always
guarantee the fairest representation. However, as Pollock put it, a lawyer can produce the best in
ensuring that the client wins their case (Pollock, 2014). You have given a satisfactory answer that
directly quotes from the course work.

Topic 2
Hi Tamara, I fully concur that the society today is far from healing with the racial
inequality malady. The criminal justice system is a fraternity that demonstrates this especially in
the U.S. The information that you provided from the article is validated statistical data that
blacks experience discrimination from their arrests, prosecution to their jail sentences (Pollock,
2014). I know that this was surprising to you but it wasn’t for me. The society is seemingly
embedded on the judgment of other people based on their race. Black people are suffering under
a discriminatory system that should be there for every citizen (April, Cole, & Goldstein, 2019).
The society truly needs to check this with the stakeholders introducing policies that can protect
the vulnerable races. I believe that we can have peaceful co-existence when the system changes
because we are all one. Racial backgrounds should not serve as the dividing factors.
