7-1 Journal: Careers and High Expectations
An interesting career for policing is a forensics investigator, the basic function is to gather evidence and statements for a crime that may have been committed. Collecting and analyzing evidence is just a small part of the job, as getting documents and keeping detailed reports, and obtaining warrants
for the case. A forensic investigator has impeccable honesty and integrity. They are held to the highest code of conduct and ethics. Critical thinking is a skill that is needed to be able to think outside of the box. Prosecutors work closely with forensic investigators and court staff, as well as other law enforcement involved in the case. A prosecutor is a representative of the government, working with the district attorney’s office where the crime was committed. The professional standards for a prosecutor are that they act with candor, good faith, and have professional relations, be diligent, and avoid conflicts
of interest. Juvenile probation officers are much different from adult probation officers. The supervision that the youth need is more compassionate. A juvenile has more of a chance for rehabilitation than an adult that has been incarcerated. A juvenile probation officer is given to a juvenile that has been given a chance to rehabilitate from committing a crime, working closely with the courts to communicate the progress of the juvenile. Like all careers in the criminal justice system, juvenile probation officers are also held to a high standard to represent the code of conduct and ethics. Professionalism and relations with the community for the youth that you are there to help them and promote a positive path. All careers work together but these three important show the steps from the initial encounter where the crime was committed to the process in the courts and last the carrying out the sentence. Forensic investigators are initially responsible for the examination and capture of evidence from the scene of a crime. The prosecutor oversees bringing the defendant in the criminal case to justice in the name of the state. After the ruling and sentencing, probation sees that the juvenile finishes the sentence, whether it is by paying fines, community service, or a community program. Ensuring that the youth are on a positive path.
Cyberterrorism is a current trend that adults and adolescents show interest in. Technology is advanced and just keeps upgrading as time continues. They use the internet to conduct violence and threaten to achieve a goal. Cyberespionage is also a trend because people are desperate for money or a gain in life, usually carried out on a government entity or military. Forensic investigators and prosecutors
must work hard to get evidence for a trial to where the one creating the cyberterrorism is. With technology now, it is possible to hide their self to make it hard to locate. These crimes are becoming more frequent and more costly.
