Written Assignment 1.0
Suhayb A. Alkurdi
Berkeley College Woodland Park
1. What is affiliate marketing, according to the presenter?
According to the presenter Victoria Galperina, affiliate marketing is a form of performance-
based marketing where companies provide certain goods or services and affiliates promote these goods or services for monetary compensation. 2. What are affiliates?
Affiliates are the people who refer potential leads or buyers to your product or service on your website 3. What role did the pizza place play in the example the presenter gave?
If your friend asks to go out to eat, you’ll most likely recommend your favorite restaurant. Let’s say it is a pizza place, and every time you refer someone to go there and eat, you earn a free pizza or get $5 off your next order. This would make you an affiliate, the pizza place is the merchant, and your friend is the referral.

4. Which of the following is a popular commission model?
Per the presenter, popular commission models are CPA, CPS, CPC, and fixed cost. CPA stands for Cost Per Acquisition, and for the pizza place example, you would get paid when your friend simply visits the establishment without the requirement of purchasing something. CPS, or Cost Per Sale, is self-explanatory as you get paid per sale. CPC, or Cost Per Click, is for instance an establishment that has a website and you would get paid per click. Fixed cost is a fixed amount of money after every sale, such as the example provided earlier with the 5-dollar reward after being able to sell a pizza. 5. Which of the following affiliates are the most sought after?
The most sought-after affiliates, according to the presenter, are opinion leaders and content producers. The reasons are they ultimately have the appropriate audience and reach, and they can
generate business new leads. 6. What is the advantage of using affiliate software instead of an affiliate network?
There are both advantages and disadvantages to using affiliate software or an affiliate network. For the software, it is a one-time purchase with the ability to customize it how you please because you have total control over it. It is easier to attract new affiliates, but it can be a complicated installation and difficult to use. Affiliate software programs also have their own set of limitations, along with the need to hire an affiliate manager.
On the other hand, an affiliate network gives instant exposure to thousands of affiliates, along with support from the network and it is a fully outsourced solution. The drawbacks, however, are

they are very costly with many hidden fees - to the point where what you once agreed to pay is nowhere near the amount you are paying. It is difficult to get out of networks and attract affiliates outside of the network because the process of having to have someone sign up for the network and then your organization can be too rigorous and scary when an organization with their software can acclimate you immediately.
