1. How does the DIAD help drivers deliver packages?
The DIAD helps drivers deliver their packages by displaying the information needed to complete a
delivery. The information includes customers names, addresses, the number of packages ordered, the
packages place in the delivery truck and estimated delivery times.
2. What improvements were made in the DIAD V?
The improvements that were made in the DIAD were added windows to display the drivers dispatch
plan. It also added the ability to change deliver information.
3. How many times are packages handled by humans once they reach Worldport? Why
is this important?
Packages are only handled twice at the World port because the rest of their system is automated. This is
important because it eliminates extra cost and majority of errors.
4. What are “end of runway” facilities?
End of runway Facilities are facilities that ship, pack and make same day deliveries.
5. What kinds of information technologies do you see being used by UPS in this video?

Ups investments in IT helped achieve strategic objective by making their delivery system as effective
possible. They have implemented automated sorting systems that have almost completely eliminated
the need for humans.
8. Why does UPS serve as an example of a “Digital firm” as described in Chapter 1?
UPS serves as an example of digital firm because its sorting and tracking system is completely
automated. Most of the other systems UPS uses is either completely automated or digital.
