Weighted Scoring Model Results
The weighted decision matrix was used to evaluate four projects. The four projects were
Global Treps Project, Change the Laws Campaign Project, Wealthy Unite Project, and Global
Smart Shoppers Project. The five criteria that were added to evaluate are cost, time, stakeholder
impact, quality, and flexibility. Cost evaluated any possible financial implications such as costs,
expenses, and potential return on investment. Time assessed the time that would be required
for development, implementation, and completion. Stakeholder impact was an assessment on
how the options would affect stakeholders. Quality would consider the level of performance,
durability, or reliability within the project. Flexibility evaluated the versatility of the solution to
any change of circumstance or future needs. These five criteria would assist in determining the
project that would be selected for completion.
Within the weighted decision matrix, cost and time held a weight of 25% because they
are seen as the two main resources being used by the projects. The amount of money used for
completion and the time needed to develop and implement should be the highest deciding
factors in choosing a project. Stakeholder impact holds a weight of 20% because of its effects for
current and potential future stakeholders. The project chosen should have the best interests of
any stakeholders in mind. Both quality and flexibility held a weight of 15% because of their low
importance, but still held a necessity when deciding a project.
Global Treps Project held the
highest weighted score of the four. The project had a score of 8 in cost because of its need for
creating a website/application and organizing events. It scored a 7 with time because of those
same reasons. Creating a website/application and organizing events would have high costs and
time would be allocated for any planning and development. It scored an 8 with stakeholder
impact because of its ability to gain support from current and future stakeholders. Having an
event like “Shark Tank” can be appealing to those who had the same startup in an
entrepreneurial venture. In quality it had scored an 8 because the events and application would
need a high level of performance to keep its appeal. If the appeal and quality is appreciated in
the first event, the project will continue to gain support as it grows. In flexibility, the project
scored a 7 because of its needed versatility when hosting the applications and holding multiple
events. The project would need to be able to accommodate a range of devices for the
website/application and be able to have events held at any possible venue to accommodate the
number of people attending.
The weighted decision matrix considered factors such as cost, time, stakeholder impact,
quality, and flexibility. Among the projects, the Global Treps Project emerged as the top choice.
It scored high in cost, time, stakeholder impact, quality, and flexibility due to its need for a
website/application, event organization, potential stakeholder support, performance
requirements, and adaptability.
