5-1 Homework Activity: Module Four – Campus Bikes Case Study Southern New Hampshire University IT-510: Advanced Info Technology October 22, 2023 Campus Bikes Case Study – Introduction
Campus Bikes is a very popular bicycle shop located near a major university owned by Mark Turner. Before opening the bike shop, for many years, Mark worked for his dad at his auto dealership, learning all about the automobile business. At Campus Bikes, patrons can purchase a wide variety of new bikes from high-end racing models to beach cruisers and any bike accessories needed. In the bike shop, Mark runs a similar business to what he learned for working with his dad, but on a smaller scale. In addition to the bike sales, the service department is always busy. “The staff includes Mark himself, a bookkeeper, two part-time sales reps, a full-time mechanic, and several part-time service helpers who assemble bikes” (Frechette, 2021). Mark’s business has recently grown, making his previous technology outdated. Mark is now interested in installing an up-to-date computer system to handle the business functions. Currently, “sales orders are recorded on pre-printed forms, and service requests are written up just as they would be in an auto service department” (Frechette, 2021). 1.
