6-1 Project One Submission: Security Awareness Training Case Study
Scenario
Recently, Fizza Cola has experienced phishing emails that have resulted in malware being installed onto computer
workstations. Executives are most concerned with trade secrets and copyright infringement laws dealing with
intellectual property. The executives have already implemented new technology (hardware) to help combat cyber
threats in general, and they now want to invest in making their employee training more robust.
For human factors for one Fizza shouldn’t of used the link from a random email in the 1
st
place phishing emails get you by downloaded malware by normally having a link attached to the email fizza shouldn’t of used the link in the first place. Even though it’s common sense people who don’t know enough about computers may do this. In this case it is important for the business to teach her computer security so this is prevented and the data is not leaked. The people incharge of the business have to make sure their employees are educated in computer security so this is prevented.
For legal factors you cant blame the employee with this issue because the company didn’t invest in employee training in the 1st place this should of happened right away legally you obviously cant blame the employee for this. Legally the business would be punished for this for not training the employee quickly about computer security in the 1
st
place. The business will especially get in trouble if they blame the employee for it and the employee says “I didn’t know I didn’t get any training for computer security. By shown in this article “Cybersecurity training still neglected by many employers” This is why businesses are legally to blame not employees the business neglects to teach their employees.
Proactive security mindset is important because it means you stay ahead of adversaries by identifying vulnerabilities and weaknesses before malicious actors exploit them. So if the employees know that emails that have
suspicious links attached to them are a vulnerability because it could auto download a virus on to your computer, then it would defiantly benefit everybody because the company wouldn’t be vulnerable to stolen data and the employee wouldn’t have to deal with stress of any attempted legal action by anybody.
