Computer operating System Windows Operating System Step 1: What I did The steps I took to complete this activity include using my previous laptop with the Windows program, watching the activity videos while also taking notes and trying to access my virtual lab to get familiar with the program. Step 2: What I learned From this activity I learned that Microsoft Windows has evolved a long way from when they started in the 1980’s till now. Each update serves a purpose based on how user use different applications and systems on their device, I also learved the difference between server and workstation, which is the server is the host to different computers and when effected it effects everyone. While a workstation is an individual device that limits a system crash to that individual device. I also learned that When it comes to user mode and kernel mode each has different access to the operating system. User mode only has access to system support processes, service processes, user applications, environment subsystems and subsystems DDLs. While the Kernel mode has access to executive, windows manager, Kernel space, device drivers hardware, and hardware abstraction layer. The device driver basically relays information to the kernel in which is then sent/relayed to the user. Step 3: Questions 1) What does the x64 mean? X64 is short for 64-Bit processor architecture. It’s main difference between 32-Bit and 64-Bit is how the CPU addresses memory to each. This x64 processor can access more than 4 billion times more memory, while removing any practical
memory limitations that a 32-Bit processor has. X64’s is built and complied for 64- bit hardware. 2) What is the name of the browser introduced with Windows 10?
