Term Definition of use Training Package The training package will inform the development of a training program and determine how assessment will be conducted. Training packages are made up of three elements as follows: 1. Units of competency 2. Qualifications framework 3. Assessment guidelines. Companion Volume Implementation Guide This is a mandatory requirement for Industry Skills Councils to develop. It includes an overview of the training packages, and information related to the units of competency, skills sets and qualifications. It also contains key implementation advice for use by RTOs. Qualification Once the units of competency are developed, they are grouped together to form qualifications. Qualifications represent the skills needed by a person to fulfil specific industry roles. For example, the training and education industry has identified a set of skills and knowledge that you will need in order to be a successful trainer and assessor. Skill Set Skill sets' are the term currently widely used to describe units of competency grouped into an interconnected set below the level of a full qualification. Accredited Course These courses are designed to fill out any skills and knowledge gaps which were not covered under training packages. Entry Requirements Students who are entering into certain courses or doing study they must demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed field or assessing area which included their knowledge, experience and any skills. Term Definition of use Packaging Rules The rules for completion of the course – also referred to as the packaging rules – reflect the skills and knowledge outcomes students need to achieve, and the pathways they may use to achieve those outcomes. Competent It refers to entire unit being awarded once a learner has satisfactory completed all unit tasks Not Yet Competent It indicated that they may have completed some but not all, of the unit taks satisfactory Not Competent It indicated that all attempts have been utilised on a task and the final decision of not competent had been made toward the unit. Satisfactory It is used at task level within a unit assessment. Once a learner has completed an assessment task satisfactory that assessment will contribute as part of the entire unit. Not Yet Satisfactory It indicated that a learner may not have fully completed the task and as more attempts remaining.
