EMM 311 TOPIC 5 DQ 2 PARTICIPATION Hello T! Thank you for reading my response, and I am glad to read about how speaking about the four pillars of hazard mitigation planning resonated with you. During every step within the hazard mitigation plan, every person who is either an individual or belongs to an organization/business has a crucial role in this process because every person needs to be heard and express their opinions/ideas. Collectively, this would help with the preparedness, mitigation, recovery, and reaction to any disaster because of how every person may think about the situations being presented, and each person may have a different solution just from the simple fact of looking at it from a different angle. Each person is unique in their way. However, as you have also said, Tyler, this also emphasizes the importance of having a complete and proactive approach to mitigating the effects of disasters. This is demonstrated by the organization of resources, risk assessment, development of a comprehensive mitigation strategy, and ongoing plan updating. Lastly, community involvement goes a long way by establishing trust and constantly building off it while receiving feedback/understanding the needs of people who may or may not be fortunate. Overall, this was an exciting read, T; thank you again for participating in my discussion question forum. Hello A! I can't agree more with your statement about how numerous procedures in mitigation planning must be adhered to to produce a well-written and comprehensive mitigation plan. As you have also said, Alejandro, every level of government, whether state, local, tribal, or federal, is distinct from the others by having different plans, processes, and procedures set in place for them to adhere to it. The way you explain how each level of government has its own unique mission set and statement allows me to imagine that whenever a disaster is happening who, what, where, when, why, and how are being asked, and answers are being delivered to establish proper channels of communication, painting a picture of what is happening on the scene, and lastly what additional resources they will need to complete this task at hand. Therefore, it focuses on the community and its risks and vulnerabilities to promote community resilience and risk reduction. However, the primary objective of all forms of mitigation is to
safeguard a designated region while maintaining the lives and means of subsistence of all individuals it was intended to save to foster resilience in these locations.
