Impact On Institutions
Obesity involves having an excessive amount of body fat, and studies have shown that one in three adults and one in six children are either overweight or severely obese (TFAH, 2023).
Since obesity can result in increased health problems like diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and certain cancers, it is a matter of public health. Although obesity is an individual problem, it is also a social issue.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has begun partnering with state and local groups to develop programs to promote healthy eating and active living strategies accessible to all (CDC, 2024). Previous programs have been set up for lower-income families and children at higher risk for obesity through services like WIC, Head Start, and farm-to-education programs. It's been identified that obesity has both direct and indirect impacts on economic costs. Global Data analytics has shown that the increase in healthcare costs, disability costs to employees, and work and school absenteeism is detrimental, resulting in reduced labor force participation, reduced earnings, and high medical costs (Dietz, 2023). Although it is apparent that obesity has a
substantial impact on the global economy, providing education on prevention strategies can aid in combating obesity. Benefit From Change
Obesity is a global issue; the U.S. is ranked number ten at 41.64% (World, 2023). Although the U.S. is not the most obese country, there are constructive strategies that can aid in transforming it. A study comparing similar fast-food restaurants in Paris found that portions were
¼ the size of their U.S. counterparts (Obesity, 2006). Fast food portions in the U.S. are four times what they were a decade ago. A Cornell study confirmed that people will eat more if given more to eat. More significant portions can lead to extra pounds for many who dine out regularly.

Portion reduction not only aids in reducing food waste and saving consumer and restaurant costs but will also aid a healthier population. It can help to contribute to healthier eating habits, which can, in return, reduce all other costs associated with obesity. Benefit And Challenges
Some positive impacts of critically analyzing wellness are increased self-awareness, enhanced well-being, resilience, and informed social policies and interventions. Comprehending one’s strengths, vulnerabilities, and weaknesses can empower one to make informed choices about their own life (Sikora et al., 2020). Being self-aware can lead to positive personal behavior
changes and healthier habits. Promoting resilience and mental health can help develop social support groups and stress management approaches and cultivate mindfulness (Sikora et al., 2020). Critically analyzing wellness helps communities develop effective public health policies to promote healthy eating, resulting in a healthier and more productive society.
Conversely, addressing wellness can be challenging due to a lack of awareness. This lack of awareness could be due to inadequate knowledge or what individuals misunderstand about improving or maintaining their mental, emotional, and physical well-being (Sikora et al., 2020). There is no one-size-fits-all solution to wellness, so developing programs to help individuals understand wellness with proven, measurable outcomes may help address some wellness challenges. Social Practices
Wellness has had a significant influence on modern social practices. Mental and physical health were not given the same level of importance as they have been given in recent years. Organizations have increasingly begun implementing wellness programs to help people focus on all aspects of their lives to promote a healthier lifestyle, and the wellness industry has grown
