Unit VIII Journal
This course has been challenging but I believe I have learned a lot in the short time. I
believe multiple objectives have been learned through the time but one major thing that I have
learned is how a water distribution system works and how they play a critical role into what
firefighters must deal with on a daily basis.
Water Distribution Systems
The biggest take home from this course to me is how a water distribution system works
and what components make up the parts of the system. This is very important for me to know
due to the limited capability of my town's water department and the fact that they are not on duty
24 hours a day like firefighters are. Knowing the size of the water mains in the area, especially
the smaller distributors, can play a huge factor in firefighting operations. In addition, knowing
