Choose from the following (you may choose more than one): I am a tactile learner. I find it best to learn a new skill by being hands on and doing things. How will understanding your learning style help you support your success inside and outside of the classroom? Understanding my learning still gives me the opportunity to identify the best ways to digest the information being taught to me. With knowing I am a tactile learner; I understand the essentials of hands-on activities. Implementing hands on activities ensure I have grabbed the knowledge and aids my success inside and outside of the classroom. I realize there is a lot of reading that comes with online classes. I ensure I engage in the “Try It” activities which provides hands on activities of the methods being taught. 2. Identify a problem-solving technique or method you have used in a previous situation and explain how it worked for you. Identify how these methods might look different in diverse cultures or different fields of work. A problem-solving method that works for me is to simply forget about it. I can be an overthinking, indecisive person. Walking away from the problem and giving myself a mental break opens my mind to other resolutions. Most times I reapproach the problem with resolutions that may have been over thought. By utilizing this method, I can think clearly and solve the problem the most efficient way. I understand this method may not work for everyone. Some situations are not forgettable. If a doctor is preforming surgery and something goes wrong, then they may use another strategy to solve a problem more quickly. Giving yourself a mental break and reapproaching a situation may look different to those that can’t walk away or need an immediate solution. 3. How do you plan to stay organized or prioritize your SNHU study time? I plan to stay organized and prioritize my SNHU study time by utilizing a master calendar. Using a schedule showing the weeks of a longer time period, such as a college term, with all assignments and important activities noted on it (Feldman, 2017, pg. 41) will be beneficial to me. I understand the amount of study time I need to be successful with this course. Within the calendar, I have time slots blocked out each day for strictly school. This schedule helps me to ensuring no other task are scheduled within that time fame. In addition to scheduling, I prioritize my study time by blocking all my interruptions. I find it easier to complete my schoolwork while my children are at school, and I by using the “Do not disturb” feature on my cell phone to ensure my focus is not interrupted.
4. List the five habits of successful SNHU students. Refer to the “5 Habits of Successful SNHU Students” infographic linked in the Module Two Resources section. The 5 habits of Successful SNHU Students are as followed: 1. Strive to submit all assignments 2. Log in early 3. Engage often 4. Use the rubric 5. Reach out for help 5. Choose two of the five habits of successful SNHU students that you feel would be most helpful in prioritizing your study time while at SNHU and explain why. Refer to the “5 Habits of Successful SNHU Students” infographic linked in the Module Two Resources section. The top two habits of a successful student that would make me more successful are logging in early and using the rubric. I am using a chart to schedule my daily task. Logging in early sets expectations for the upcoming week. With the understanding of what my assignments are, I will be able to add more time to my schedule if one weeks has additional assignments than a previous week. This method will ensure I am prioritizing my study time. Using the rubric is also helpful for me. I want to make sure I get the highest grade possible for every assignment. Understanding what is expected for my assignments will ensure I achieve the highest grade possible. I am an overachiever. I don’t want to score just enough to get by. I want to complete all assignments correctly the first time and give it my all which enables my success.
