Needs Assessment of Amazon Course Project Week 3 Kevin Robinson HRM592 Training and Development Professor Crews November 14, 2020
Introduction When an organization does a needs assessment what they are trying to do is understand what programs that they can use to fix internal problems. Hopefully, after a need of assessment is done and an analysis it will show what areas needs training and how it can benefit if training is done. If an organization is serious about doing what is right for the cooperation and the community it will offer the best training if that is to come from with-in or from outside help. A Needs Assessments Analysis can be determined once they do a organizational survey is conducted. For the course project this week I will be focusing on the analysis of safety, and the organization. For the organizational survey it will be showing how important teamwork is important to the company. Organizational Survey For General Mills, the making of good food for the world was the model before and still is today. They believe in a great working culture Mr. Jeffrey L. Harmening the CEO, wants to continue to build on and to develop skilled and dedicated employees. A. I am involved in decisions that directly affect my job. B. My supervisor communicates with me on a regular basis. C. I clearly understand what is expected of me. D. I am rewarded for good performance. E. My opinion has been asked regarding what needs to change in my work area. F. I understand why the decisions that affect my job are made. G. My supervisor gives me information that is important to me. H. I have the skills necessary to perform my job properly. I. I am rewarded for working well with others. J. I receive frequent feedback on my performance.

They believe the employees are overall supported by management and feel connected with the people that work around each other. Nevertheless, General Mills employees feel that some procedures for training are lacking. More training is required globally so that every company and its employees has the same privileges and opportunity for growth.  The company understands this and knows they have room for improvement. They will continue to work so that every relevant voices and perspectives are heard. General Mills have been established since 1928 and they continue to have a low turnover rate because people like working with the company. Needs assessment During the survey they found out that as a company they still need to improve on training. The company deemed a lack of assets were being properly used to fund over 30 different districts in for training. This needs assessment will help define whether the process for training is being used to reach company goals. 80% +5% 77% 78% 70% 84% 89%

An interview should be done with a manager and a few employees to show everyone that their opinion matters. The questions: 1. What would you like to learn to make your job easier or better? What are the programs, processes, or resources available for you to learn from? How have you developed the skills that you have? 2. Who brings problems to you and what kind of problems are they? How do you usually solve them? Who do you ask for help? Finding out what employees need training on should help to see what can be done or possibly if more funds can be divided to a certain area. So, what needs to happen is make sure that training is conducted the same so each department of General Mills will benefit. Conclusion This needs assessment will be helpful to so that it will give information to expand the training programs in place to make them better. However, better schedules and proper exchange of information between managers and their employees could also be the key because everyone needs improvement in some area.
