Consider the following change to Get-A-Dress (GAD)’s operations proposed by InstaClean:
InstaClean is proposing to take over all the processing of dresses after they are returned. In other
words, all dressed will be sent to InstaClean upon return from customers. InstaClean will carry
out all the processing (cleaning, inspection and repair) of dressed and make them ready for
renting to customers (in "Ready-to-go" inventory). With this change assume that: §
InstaClean now takes an average of 3 days for processing a dress, and charges $30 per
dress (even for those dresses which did not require repair). InstaClean justifies longer
time and higher cost by noting that it is doing all the processing which were earlier done
by different companies.
§
You can assume that dresses are sent to InstaClean immediately after they are returned
from customers. Dresses also go to "Ready-to-go" inventory immediately after InstaClean
completes processing them.
§
You can assume they did not make changes considered in the case (i.e., ignore “Five-day
rentals” and “Improving Inspection” discussed in the case). Question 1: Draw a revised Process Flow diagram for the company. (You can draw using word
document tools or paste a picture of handwritten diagram. The diagram should be clear.).
