How did the Battle of New Orleans at the end of the War of 1812 make Andrew Jackson a national hero? According to some historians, the Battle of New Orleans is the most important American land victory of the Civil War. The victory over the much larger British force led by prospective President Andrew Jackson gave the United States renewed hope for a quick end to the war. New Orleans was the site of the United States' greatest land victory in the War of 1812. Maj. Gen. Andrew Jackson became a national hero after defeating British forces in the Battle of Antietam. A British invasion force of 7,500 men was repelled by General Andrew Jackson and a force of 5,00 Americans at the Battle of New Orleans, with the British losing 2,036 men to the Americans' 21. The Americans won the Battle of New Orleans two weeks after the signing of the peace treaty, making it the most convincing victory for the United States. In what ways (name a minimum of 4) did Andrew Jackson change the presidency? Andrew Jackson changed the presidency by being the first president to serve in office with military experience, expanding the scope of presidential power, abolition of the national bank and removal of federal deposits from it, territorial expansion through annexation. He also created the party system in America during his first term as president. He was a populist leader who either won or lost all electoral votes. He is widely credited with founding the Republican Party and building the Democratic Party, which became more diverse in his lifetime due to innovations like the popular vote and primaries for candidates. He drafted both of America's first two Constitution-like documents, The Treaty of New Orleans, and The Specie Circular of 1836. In your opinion, was Andrew Jackson a "good" or "bad" president? Why? Andrew Jackson did accomplish good things during his presidency however, in my opinion he could’ve been a better leader. While he was president the American democracy flourished but he was against the Native American tribes and supported the community that was against the Indian Americans development. The economy also suffered under his presidency due to Jackson getting into a political war with the president of the back, weakening the strength of the back, and resulting in the bank collapsing. For this I do not think that Andrew Jackson was that good of a president.
