2 What was the Scramble for Africa? In your answer, give one example of the legacy of the Scramble for Africa. The Scramble for Africa was approximately between the late 1800s to early 1900s. It was an era of European nations' rapid colonization of the African continent. King Leopold II of Belgium initiated the partition of Africa through his activities aimed at exploiting the Congo Basin (de Almeida, 2019). One example of the legacy of the scramble for Africa was creating a basis for colonization. The European countries influenced the regions they were trading in Africa. They colonized those areas, which further led to the exploitation of natural resources. These natural resources provided raw materials for their industries to create products that generated high revenues.
