REFLECTIVE PRACTICE
PROTOCOL
Reflective practice is an ongoing, dynamic process of thinking honestly, deeply and critically about all aspects of professional practice with children and families. It occurs spontaneously as well as in essential planned reflection time. Most importantly, reflective practice leads to action.
VEYLDF, Practice Principle Guide: Reflective Practice
At the end of each week of placement, please complete a Reflective Practice Protocol with your mentor teacher.
1.
What strengths have you developed this past week?
Now I am confident to do a group activity in the room, how to plan it, how to get ready with the backup
plan if that doesn’t go well with someone.
2.
What question about your practice would you like to investigate this coming week?
I want to investigate about how we male individual plan for those children who are having delays or
more advanced as compared to their other peers in the room.
3.
What strategies can you develop in response to your question?
I discussed this thing with the educational leader of the centre, and she explained the concept of
individual plan and showed me the template document we use to plan that thing.
4.
What question about your practice would your mentor like you to investigate this week?
My mentor wants me to spend some time with children those who have some special needs. Learning
about them and understanding how to handle the situations when those children struggling in the
room.
5.
What strategies can your mentor recommend in response to their question?
She explained every special child has different needs and we have different plans for them. We only
